YAFA
The Youth and Family Activities (YAFA) achievement program, formerly known as the Youth and Family Achievement program is designed to provide youth and their families with the opportunity to learn about pre-17th-century practices, through active-learning, while developing character in line with SCA core values.
The program currently operates under the office of the Family Activities Coordinator
History
The Youth and Family Achievement (YAFA) Program was originally an SCA program established to provide the opportunity for youth to learn about various period practices while developing character following the SCA core values. The program was first piloted in the Kingdom of Caid. An Tir soon followed, as well as a handful of other Kingdoms thereafter.
At the conclusion of AS 55, YAFA was discontinued at the Society level, through a vote by the Board of Directors. A primary motivation for this decision was lack of overall participation spread by Kingdoms. However, An Tir, having had success with the program, decided to continue, albeit with a slight name change.
