About Me
Baroness Aleksandra Lavrovna is an 11th Century Rus citizen of Novgorod. Her merchant father hires strong backs & arms to protect his goods along the road to Byzantium which is how Duncan Barakson met her. He fell in love with this stubborn, strong-willed young woman and eventually persuaded her to be his wife. Her father took a bit more persuading... They are the proud parents of two charming little boys.
My first introduction to the SCA was at June Faire in 1996 - I was smitten and by Autumn War had my first garb together and was ready to jump in with both feet.
My first persona was a 15th Century Spanish woman named Alejandra Villanueva which used an actual family surname. None of my friends could pronounce the first name and there are still a few of them who call me "AJ" which is what they came up with to bypass the Spanish. After a couple of years, I determined that late period clothing was not what I wanted to be wearing at outdoor events in the soggy northwest and my persona started migrating north and into an earlier time. I ran across information on Novgorod quite by accident and since I liked the attitude they had about women decided to build my life there. I love that being Rus allows me to play with clothing from several different cultures and have them all be entirely plausible for the daughter of a northern merchant.
I am the protege of Baroness Khalja Khorkhoi, OP, OL & fostered to Countess Aryana Silknfyre, OP, OL.
