Honey War
June 13th – 14th, 2014
Once again the nefarious Barony to the North has made off with our precious honey after taking offense at a most innocent comment made by our beloved Baroness. This cannot be born once more! WAR! Come support the noble Barony of Glymm Mere from the tyrannical actions of the barbarians of Blatha an Oir this June 13th – 14th.

Directions: Take I-5 to Hwy 101. Turn toward Shelton. Continue, the site will be on your right just after Steamboat Island.


Friday June 13, 2014 –
10:00am - Gate Opens for Merchants
12:00pm - Gate Opens
4:00pm – Equestrian Authorizations
7:00pm: Twilight Tourney – Heavy “Come on! Show me your stinger!”
12:00am: Gate closes – people can still come on site, but please check in when gate opens in the morning
Saturday June 14, 2014 –
(Throughout the day, there will be various family activities beginning at Family Activity Point, including a Honey Hunt for the kids that will garner the winner’s barony a war point)
8:00am: Gate Opens for Saturday
8:30am: Equestrian Authorizations
9am: Arts & Sciences Village opens – (this will include displays from our local artisans, and an opportunity for artisans to hang out and get to know one another.
Those wishing to participate in the two A & S Competitions (The Dirty Dozen & Show Me the Honey) will have a designated area in which to set up, and will need to have their items in place before noon for judging. Judging will happen between Noon and 4:30pm.
A & S Competitors must include one of the following elements in their entries: Honey and/or the production of (wax, honey, bees, flowers, flight, etc.)
A Roving Bardic Competition will have the bards buzzing around. The competitors will need to pick up their entry sheets in the A & S village throughout the day, and return them by 4:30pm. The competitors will have their sheets signed by each person they perform for, you may only perform once for each signature then move on. How productive a Worker Bee are you?
There will be an open bardic stage area in the A&S Village for bards that wish to perform.
Game Competitions will be run all day at the A&S Village and there will be a Kubb tourney.
9:30am – Heavy Inspection
10:00am – Opening Court with Champion’s Exhibition to include: Thrown Weapons, Archery, Heavy, & Bardic Champions! Come out, support your Baronies and see these talented individuals compete for their Barony’s war points!
10:30am – The Swarm! Five Man War Band Tourney
11:00am – War – Heavy Scenarios – Each point will be given to the side that wins each scenario. There will be five scenarios to be announced at a later date.
11:00am – Range for archery/thrown weapons opens
11:15am – Archery Championship
11:30am – Hit the Hive Thrown Weapons Novelty Shoot (This will last until you are tired or until 1:00pm, whichever comes first)
11:30am – Kub Competition! (Lasts until 4:30pm at which point the winner shall be determined by highest score)
12:00pm – Nap
12:00pm – 2:00pm - Honey War Siege Cooking Competition -
"Your castle is under siege, your larder is bereft of stores, it is time for ... The Honey War Siege Cooking Contest!  :: The gory details are as follows. We provide the basket of mystery with ingredients that must be used. You provide the protein source - if you so desire. (Mayhap all meat, even the rats - so good grilled, has been consumed.) Additionally, you, in writing, declare up to 15 cooking ingredients you may use over three rounds along with your mystery ingredients to create a dish or dishes to tempt the palate and please the eye. Please pre-register your intent to compete so we may acquire an adequate amount of mystery ingredients, we would hate to have to provide you with the chicken feet from the freezer."
These will be three rounds, each must be cooked at the designated “siege cooking area” near the Baronial Pavillion thus evening the playing field in the Culinary Eric. Set up for your cooking station my begin at 10am. There will be a referee present to ensure all rules are followed.

2:00pm – War – Rapier Scenarios
1:15pm – Thrown Weapons Championship
1:30pm – Equestrian Championship
1:00pm – Brewing Competitions There will be separate competitions for brewing & cordials 1pt each
3:00pm – The Honeyed Tongue Competition –
Are you able to spout flowery prose at a moment’s notice? Do honeyed words of a complimentary nature drip from your tongue foresoothly? If so, join us at this time for the Honeyed Tongue Competition and put your skills to the test!
4:00pm – All judging forms and tokens to be turned in for tally no later than this time!
4:30pm – Evening Court
6:30pm – Peace Feast
7:00pm – Family friendly bardic
8:30pm – Honeyed Bard Competition
10:00pm – Bawdy Bardic –
we would kindly ask that the families at this time would take their children back to their camps as some of the content at this point might assail their precious little ears.


Sunday June 15, 2014 –
11:00am – Wacky Tacky Water War (super soakers, noodles, etc. NO WATER BALLOONS!) weather permitting
3:00pm – Site Closes


Heavy Scenarios

Scenario #1: [Bard tells how the Baron of Glymm Mere had been abducted by the War Band of Blatha an Oir and, in retaliation, Glymm Mere’s War band had taken Blatha an Oir’s Baron. Both Barons are under the influence of honey intoxication, thus are not able to run] the objective is for an army to liberate their perspective Baron. This is achieved by bringing their Baron back to their side of the field to the res point. Archery and thrown weapons. No time limit. 3 resurrections. Scenario worth one point.

Scenario #2: [Bard tells of how the two armies meet on the borderlands] Open field battle three resurrections. Archery, thrown weapons and siege weapons. No time limit. Scenario worth one point.

Scenario #3: [Bard tells of how army which won first scenario invades other barony; defenders try to stop them at a bridge]. Bridge battle. No time limit. Archery and thrown weapons. 2 resurrections. Winner is whoever holds the mid-point of the bridge for five minutes. Scenario worth one point.

Scenario #4: [Bard tells of how army which won bridge battle scenario pushes other side back to their fortress. After a lengthy siege, and with supplies running low, attackers try to take fortress by force]. Capture the flag. Winner of Bridge battle attacking; other side defending. Archery and thrown weapons, siege weapons. Attacking army has 3 resurrections. Defenders 0 res. Fifteen minute time limit. Scenario worth two points.

Scenario #5: [Bard tells of how one army has won the day, but fighting continues chaotically over loot]. Grand Melee; everyone versus everyone, wounds follow you from fight to fight, and last fighter standing wins. No Archery or thrown weapons. No resurrections. Scenario worth no points, but prize for winning fighter.

Site Rules:


RV camping will be available, no hookups. If you have an RV, you MUST camp in the designated RV area, there will be NO exceptions. There will be trailer parking.

Equestrian - stalls are available for rent at $20 for the weekend. You must provide your own stall bedding and feed. First come first serve. If the stalls are all taken, please make sure to provide your own fencing in the equestrian area. If you do not have this, you may be turned away at gate. Thanks. If pre-regging, please indicate on the form that you will need a stall, and add the additional monies to your check. Thank you.

No pets unless service animal. This is a request by the site owner and must be followed. (There may be a few exceptions may be given depending on your situation.)

No smoking unless in your private encampment.

There is a stream on site, use at your own risk.

Please keep fires small and 16” of the ground.

There are two bridges on site, please be responsible and careful when crossing. Foot traffic only please.


Potable water is available on site.
