Description

Named for the world serpent of Norse mythology, House Jormungandr is a crafting and fighting household whose active members span from the Barony of Adiantum to the Barony of Three Mountains. They emulate the structure of a hiberno-norse hall, but include persona of various geographical and period origin.

History

Sometimes referred to as the "Hall of the World Serpent," House Jormungandr was first conceived in 2004 by Taðkr ormstunga, who chose its name and device, and continued as a joint project between its founding members; Taðkr ormstunga, Senen, Toomachi no Shichiro, and Anejiro no Tamiko. Its first official household event was Autumn War 2007.

Quotes

"Jormungandr is the world serpent of Norse mythology. After its birth it became so large as to eventually encircle the world with its tail in its mouth. This figure was not only chosen as our symbol, but we have also taken on its name. It is how we are represented to the world, and, more importantly, an ever present symbol to ourselves of who we are. Right now we are small, new, and relatively unskilled, but we will grow; not just in size, but in skill and accomplishment. It reminds us to keep open minds, learn and master new things, and expand ourselves towards our potential." -Taðkr ormstunga, goði
