Event Memories

Greetings,

I have to say it was a looong event for the other candidates and my self but there were a few moments that really stood out and kept me smiling.

Trying to get through my sciences testing and hearing the roaring laughter of the bardic circle behind me and actually looking forward to doing my bardic (which was so much easier than last year… thanks to the grandparents!!)

The look on Sgt Cyneric’s face, followed by laughter (I thought he might fall out of his chair he laughed so hard!) as I explained my brave and cunning plan to take the castle with a gift from Santa!

The Bardic circle: for those of you who weren’t there, some one tried to blame the downfall of the bardic circle on belly dancers. There were too many of US there including of course, Her Excellency, and that theory was quickly cast aside. We yelled back that belly dancers were to fill in the lulls, while instruments were tuned and courage gathered. Next lull, without accompaniment and with much zagareeting, Her Excellency leapt from her chair and belly danced around the fire. When she stopped, I dug out my zills and passed them over to her. The poor bards had to wait while she played the zills and kept on dancing!

All the encouragement and coaching from all the target archers (thank you, thank you, thank you!) from the funny, fuzzy bunny slippers and the period arrows (truly magical) to the furry Scottish cow quiver to reminding me that I do need oxygen and I should breathe before I fell over!

Having an icepack snuck out to me, I’m not naming names on this one!

The icing on the cake, the words spoken to me by Baroness Aurora, receiving Yeoman Peregrin Portico’s bracer and realizing I didn’t have to come back next year to test again! (Looong zagareet!)

I would like to extend my thanks to all those who helped out at the trials in so many little ways. If we sometimes for get to say it please know that it is always appreciated. A joyous noise for all those who bear water (& Gatorade, Thanks Genevieve!), we love you for it!!

Alas, back to Mundania, boring little kingdom that it is, and sewing T tunics (I promise I will TRY to stick to T tunics and not veer off into coats, G!). <Sigh>

Yours in Service,

Rahil Al'Zarqa Humaa

Yeoman to Baroness Aurora Argentius

Greetings from Komatsu no Ayame

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped me throughout the entire event. I had a wonderful time and learned so much!! Even though it was my first trials, I went in full force and tried my best, I am glad that everyone had the right idea in that is all that I ever asked. To be recognized by the populace was very touching to me. I can't thank everyone enough for helping me get fed, watered (I sound like a dog) and keeping me slightly sane. Going for the tests was hard, but I know that next year I will do so much better than this year!!!!!! Watch out! Bwah ha ha ha!!!

Cheers, Komatsu no Ayame
