Her interests include: gardening and exploring the crops from medieval Europe, sewing, embroidery, inkle weaving, making leather shoes, herbal remedies, foraging and finding recipes to use her treasures, Norse wire weaving, beadwork, calligraphy and illumination, making kombucha, reading, preservation of foods for winter use. Ailynn was first introduced to the SCA back in 1987 (A.S.XXII). She was walking through the woods at Sequest Park in the Shire of River's Bend. Christened Eibhlinn Catriona Moireah, a 16th century Scottish orphan who was raised by her uncle, Lord James Moireah of Atholl by the River Tay. She was expected to run his household from a young age. Included in her duties was gardening, foraging, cooking and learning the sewing techniques of his profession. He was a Royal tailor to the house of Stuart and dealt with clothiers and cloth merchants from Flanders, Italy, England and France. She was often tasked with meeting the ships in the port Cities of Perth and Dundee at the mouth of the river Tay.

It was within the next couple of years that she joined the Shire. Over the next few years she became their Arts and Sciences Minister. She went to several classes and really enjoyed learning about soap making, paper making, book binding, and creating period costumes. She was a gardener in modern society. She wanted to see how they cultivated edible and medicinal plants in the middle ages. Then friends introduced her to the Companion Gytha Anora ni Keran, OL. They became friends and she took her on as an apprentice.
During her time at River's Bend, she earned several shire awards. Her service was commended by a "Pat on one's Head" and two cattails in A.S. XXIV and A.S. XXVII. In the year A.S. XXIV (November 11,1989) an Award of Arms was given to her by King Tjorkill Kanne and Queen Hlutwige Wolfkiller . She and her friend Gillian Lenzi were co-autocrats for Irish feast and William Tell Tourney. Gillian and Ailynn both earned a Goutte de Sang for service to the kingdom in the year A.S. XXVIII (November 20, 1993) awarded by King Rorik Gunnarson and Queen Helena of Birka.
After her release from many years in captivity, she was recognized by King Athanasios Belisarios and Queen Alianora Greymoor for her work in costuming, scribal arts and various arts and sciences. Ailynn received a Griffe et du Lion on A.S. LVIII, (February 25, 2023)
While in her new Shire of Fire Mountain Keep, She became the Gold Key Mistress and Their Minister of Arts and Sciences (A.S. LV). The Baron of Glymm Mere, Alasdair Mac Roibeirt, and his Baroness Disa i Birkilundi called her into the Order of the Crystal on A.S. LVIII (August 12, 2023).
King Ulfgar Hjartar Bani Thorvaldsson and Queen Juahara al Azin saw fit to name Ailynn as a Scholar of AnTir for her 3 entries at the Kingdom Arts and Sciences Competition A.S. LVIII (March 2, 2024) Further works of art using needle and brush allowed her admittance to the Order of the Red Hart given by Baron Alasdair and Baronness Disa of Glymm Mere in A.S. LVIII (March 9, 2024)
News spread to Their Majesties Erik Daegarsson and Brynhildr Ansvarsdottir of her skills and teaching to the populace in A.S. LXI (October 12, 2024) so they awarded her the Jambe de Lion.
Because her skills helped clothe kings and queens, she was given a Royal Clothiers Favor by King Nicolai Rabenis Von Tachov and Queen Ana de la Sara on June 21, 2025 (A.S. LX)
Acts of Service:
Always wanting to be helpful, Ailynn has worked at registration gate for June Faire in Dragon's Laire in 2024; Rose and Thorn Symposium 2024;and William Tell Tourney 2023 in River's Bend; Prelude to War in 2023; and Yule in Blatha an Oir in 2023.
Using her gardening skills she grew pumpkins for Crow's Feast in Fire Mountain Keep in 2024, and grew herbs for the Yule Feast in the Barony of Glymm Mere in 2023.
She is handy with the needle. Her skills have produced over 30 totes, 35 hats, 10 sets of veil pins, 20 pin cushions, and 6 veils to be donated as largesse.
As Gold Key Mistress, she has the desire to include all new people by making sure they have appropriate clothing. When nothing was suitable from the loaner closet, she stitched something for them!
Demos-Ailynn likes to introduce new faces to the Society. She has been in the fiber arts building at June Faire; Fantasy Festival in Centralia 2023, and 2025, demonstrating inkle weaving and embroidering English blackwork; She was talking to folks at the Olympia Games Festival in 2022; A paper making demonstration was well received by the children and the young at heart at Mayfaire in 2021. Shelton Farmers Market demo- 2024. At the "Ladies Night Out" event in Centralia, she dressed in 16th century noble garb and waved to the passing crowd.
Children are the delight of curiosity to Lady Ailynn. She's just a big kid herself! She organized the children's activities at Crow's Feast 2024. They made clay pendants and pop-sicle catapults from which they shot marshmallow projectiles all over the feast hall.
