Twelfth Night Celebration and Coronation

The Event

On January 16, 1982, at the Knights of Columbus Hall (722 East Union Street, Seattle, WA) in the Barony of Madrone, the King and Queen of the West, Radnor of Guildemar and Esmeralda Dancingstar, had their royal herald proclaimed the Charter releasing the Principality of An Tir from their reign and creating the Kingdom of An Tir.
They then coronated Manfred Kriegstreiber and Morag Campbell of Glenbourne as the first King and Queen of An Tir.
Announcements
Their Royal Highnesses Manfred and Morag also request that no songs be presented during court. There will be time made during the revel for anyone wishing to dedicate a song to the King and Queen or the new Kingdon of An Tir to perform. Any presentations or announcements for this event must be scheduled with Gwynaeth ferch Lewelyn before January 1 to be listed on the court schedule. Alastir of Alstonwood is scheduling contests for this event. Contact him before January 1. Volunteers are desperately: needed. Anyone willing to help set-up early in the morning or help the constables and the door registration, please contact the autocrat Anne of Caerdydd. The doors of the building will open at 10 am. Please. be advised that there will be three doors open at this time, but two are specifically for the use of people setting up the hall. Please enter only by the main door. A 2$ hall fee will be collected as people arrive. The populace can congregate in the lobby of the hallway until 10:45, at which time the main hall will open for all.
Courts
Ulfred and Sumingo's last court will begin promptly at 11 am, so please be there on time. This will be a long court. Courts will close at approximately 5 pm. All populace must vacate the main hall at this point.
Arms


The arms of the Principality of An Tir were blazoned: Checky Or and argent, a lion rampant, tail forked and nowed, sable, grasping in its dexter paw a laurel wreath proper.
When An Tir became a kingdom, a red Crown was added: Checky Or and argent, a lion rampant tail forked and nowed sable, crowned gules, grasping in dexter forepaw a laurel wreath bendwise vert.
Feast
There are various halls and stairways where people can collect before the banquet will begin. Seating for the banquet will begin at 6 pm, please bring your trenchers, bowls and goblets. The Madrone Culinary Guild is cooking a feast befitting this magnificent occasion; First Renove - Manchet Loaves, Brie Cheese, Mediterranean Olives, Rota, Chester Scones and Snoked Salmon, Second Remove - A Subtlety, Stuffed Byrdes with Sause Madame, Funges, Apple-Orange Pille Tart: Third Remove - A Subtle Sallet, Befe y Rost, Seafood Egredounce Fourth Renove - A Subtlety, Crustade Lombard, Troy Crem, Baked Pears, Syllibub. Reservations for the banquet are limited--until December 15th, $10 U.S., $12 Canadian, children under 12 half-price. Prices then go up to $12 U.S. and $14.50 Canadian until January 1, At this time reservations will be closed. Your reservations will be held at the door. Checks for the feast should be made payable to the Exchequer of Madrone, and sent to Lee of the Lowlands. A coordinated potluck feast is also keing held in the same building, downstairs. Contrary to the information reported last issue, there is no additional fee for the potluck. Each person please bring a dish to feed ten and your own drinks as well as trenchers and goblets.
Entertainment
Entertainment between the removes will be Bawderie & Blisse, Pleyn Delit & Tazjana, a middle-eastern dancer. There will be competitions at the potluck in several categories: Best Subtlety, Best Cheese Subtlety, Most Tasty Meat Fowl Stew, Tastiest Vegetable Dish, Best Ple or Tart, Best Dragon-Shaped Bread, Best Edible Dish Which Defies Description. Notes all food contest entries receive favorable consideration for being in the shape of a boar's head, subtletles which represent An Tirian thenes will also be looked on with favor. Other contests, Best Lady's Garter, Best Man's Chest (man must be fully dressed from the waist down), Best Reverence; and Create a Creature Contest for Children (paper & drawing implements will be provided). Entertainnent will be provided by the Mistrel's Guild, Sira performing a middle-eastern dance and the Bards of Misrule. A King and Queen of Misrule will be chosen at the potluck. Illumination at the hall being modern in the extreme, people are asked to bring candles. They must however be 1n safe, enclosed contalnere to confom to fire codes. The two feasts will conclude at about 8:30. One half hour will be used for rearranging tables and chairs for the revel. Due to the amount of people that will probably be at this event, the autocrats cannot allow everyone in the kitchen to wash their dishes. Garbage cans will be located conveniently and paper towels will be provided to wipe off trenchers. During the revel entertainment will occur in various places throughout the building. Announcements will be made periodically to advise the populace on all the happenings. The hall will be cleared at Midnight. All who stay to help restore the hall to order will receive the heartfelt thanks of the autocrat Contests being run during the event Princess Janeltis is sponsoring a contest in heraldic needle work. The entry can be any form of stitchery, but it must be heraldically correct. The winner will be proclaimed Master or Mistress of Stitchery. Janeltis is also sponsoring a contest to be judged during the revel, Best Mythical Beast Headpiece. Donn an Bronach is sponsoring a contest for Throne Design. The Kingdom Costumer's Guild will be sponsoring a contest for the best Full Court Costume, to be judged on the appropriate use of fabrics and accessories, and the proper deportment of the wearer. This contest is the first in the Arts/Sciences Decathlon. If you wish to entertain at Twelfth Night please contact Chrystlle the Unquenched.
Winners
The winners of this Twelfth Night's Master/Mistress of Stitchery Competition are: Mistress Catherine Winifred of Tor Bitterroot, Lady Chrystlle the Unquenched, the lady Celdae the Seeker, Lady Melissa Kendal of Westmoreland. The winner of the Heraldic Crest Competition is the lady Aloyse Brenna Devona. Recipients of the badge of the Golden Unicorn for personal service to Her Serene Highness are: Manfred Kriegstreiber, Aislinn of Cumbria and Ludwig von Lemminghaus.
