Kay McNevin, also known as Mad Kay, also known as Kay the Mad has been wandering the kingdom of An Tir for many years. Kay is known for playing Norse Stickball and telling fantastic stories about her many travels and one-true-loves. She was first taken in by the McCready household after being found in the woods muttering to herself about Rhinoplasticus, her (Roman)one-true-love. When they invited her to sit by the fire and eat she introduced herself as Kay McNevin, a woman who had been dead for many years. When Stivan Blackthorne came across the group he recognised Kay as one of his many children. After the McCready's disbanded Kay drifted and eventually joined the Winds Of Fortune as one of the many resident bards.

Her constant companion is Boo, a miniature giant hamster that had been gifted to her by Minsk Isborsk, her (Russian) one-true-love. Also left to Kay by Minsk was his sister Tataniya Isborsk. Tataniya and Kay's relationship is an odd one, which is to say they are always at odds. They rub each other the wrong way, the only reason they continue to travel together is their mutual love and devotion to Minsk, as such each merely awaits his return, so they can escape one another.
