Baroness Saewynn is legendary in An Tir.
Though they may not know her name, almost everyone in the Kingdom has heard her voice waking them at Crown events, chanting morning wake-up. For a few years she was Town Crier Pursuivant, and the herald's natural-history consultant. She is currently serving Madrone as Red Tree Pursuivant. She has, for many years, provided the chivalry prize for Squires Tournament at Crown events: several yards of card-woven trim. These are highy sought-after prizes.

Saewynn, O Saewynn, why are you singing?
Dressed in a tabard, teamug in hand
Your face full of joy and your voice full of thunder
Saewynn, O Saewynn, the voice of the land
Last night in the darkness the drunks entertained us
Our peace lay ruined in the snow
They've stolen my slumber and the sleep of my shire
And to their tent now I must go--
To their side now I must go.
Saewynn, O Saewynn, where is your drummer?
Where is your piper, to walk by your side?
It is not seemly that you should sing lonely
For others have suffered, and cannot abide.
My drummer is sleeping down with the Guccis
My piper a-snores in the rain;
The drunkards left no one untouched by their rev'lry
But in their tents they'll not remain--
I vow they'll not sleeping remain.
Saewynn, O Saewynn, where are your senses?
Why do you brave this duty alone?
You have no knowledge of war or of weapons,
Why dare ye the wrath of the Black Lion Throne?
This is far more than a matter of honour
And more than a matter of pride;
They are a-slumber, alone and unknowing,
And someone will feel that they've died--
Died as I sing by their side.
Heralds and Harpers, I need assistance--
I'm one against many, though they are afraid.
The drummers brought with them some ear plugs and pillows
I cannot wake th' dead without music's aid.
Saewynn, O Singer, into your keeping
I'll give you my childhood toy
Brass and the shine of well-polished steel
She'll sound out as she did before
A trumpet as loud as before.
Harper, O Harper, why do you aid me?
You were a drunkard a season ago.
Why bring this weapon of brass and of steel
Why do you ask me now to do what you know?
O Saewynn, not for the weak or the fearful
Is the first town cry of the day--
You've answered my questions, stride on with my blessings;
And trust in the game that we play
The Dream will live on that way.
Saewynn, O Saewynn, why are you singing?
Dressed in a tabard, teamug in hand
Your face full of joy and your voice full of thunder
Saewynn, O Saewynn, the voice of the land.
