Clinton War is upon us! This is an unofficial SCA event that is in its 33rd year. However the majority of attendees are SCA and all SCA Ranks and Courtesies are honoured, and expected. Dates are August 3-6, but camping is permitted on the site from Friday July 27th. There will be a memorial Sunday night for Baroness Viscountess Amanda Kendal. Site fee is $15.00 Canadian or US with a Family cap of $30.00. The site is primitive, outhouses and no tap water. However there is a spring on site and there is a creek running through the property that supplies the town of Clinton with all its drinking water and is safe to drink There are baths with hot water and showers on site, fire conditions permitting, and so far so good. There is a sturdy wooden castle on site, and a very large war field, usually there is ore fighting than can be possibly imagined. Merchants are welcome at no extra charge. The site is wet, the legal drinking age in B.C. is 19.
There is no street address for this site, it is on a Mountain Plateau above the tow of Clinton B.C. To get to the war, from points south: Take your best route to the Trans Canada Highway, Route # 1. Take this road through Hope B.C. and up through the Fraser Canyon, to the town of Cache Creek. At Cache Creek bear left unto Highway 97 North. Take this to the town of Clinton about 20 - 30 minutes north. Come through the town, past a couple of grocery stores and on your right you will see a 2nd hand store The Trading Post. It is at this point you will turn left on McDonald; this will fairly quickly become a dirt road. Continue up and cross over Railway tracks. Once over the tracks turn a sharp left, and cross over a cattle guard. (If you do not cross a cattle guard you are going the wrong way and will likely wind up a Microwave tower!) Continue along this road as you can not now go wrong! Come to a real (not Troll) gate, close it after yourself please, and continue to the Troll Booth and then select your campsite. From points south east, follow #1 West to Cache Creek and follow Directions per above. From the North, make your best route to BC Route 97 South to Clinton and follow the directions up to the site. There is a hospital about 35 minutes away. The town has grocery and liquor stores.
For further information please contact the Co Autocrat Colin Mackay of Balmaghie before Tuesday July 25
