Argolia is a daughter of Orkney born on the Isle of Sanday in the year 989. Her father, an Orkneyinger, was fostered in the court of King Olaf of Norway. Staying in service to the king and his sons, he fared east across the Keel to Jemtland, and Sweden, thence farther east to Russia where he took a wife before retuning to Orkney.

It was thus that Argolia was raised in both the ways of the Northmen of the Islands and the Rus.
