I found the SCA in the Spring of 1985. I was a student at the Oregon Institute of Technology (O.I.T.)in Klamath Falls, Oregon. I was sitting in the cafeteria with my girlfriend, looked out the window and saw two people in cloaks and costumes,Darien Tevarson and Karl the Purple, walking across the hill behind the residence hall. A week earlier, a friend of mine who knew I played D&D, had told me about these strange people that dressed up and acted out their D&D games. I wanted to meet these crazies, so we rushed out to the football field where they were gathered. I saw people in armor fighting, I saw archers shooting, saw Marshals doing their thing....I talked with Darien, ask about a million questions, and we were invited to the feast that evening.
