History
Three Mountains became a Barony in March of A.S. III 1969. (This claim needs a reliable source - see On the founding dates of Madrone and Three Mountains)
Ian Jameson relates (via An Tir SCA (Unofficial) discord, sca-culture-and-history channel, Aug 11 2025):
- Possibly apocryphal except I'm pretty sure I heard Frederick of the West Tower relate this. Founding Baron. Which doesn't mean he didn't make it up after the fact.
- Concerning the name of the Barony of Three Mountains.
- Frederick, hung over, looking out the window of his bedroom.
- "I count one...two...Three Mountains!"
- Mount St. Helens
- Mount Hood
- The third? I don't recall if it was said to be Mount Adams or Mount Rainer; Mount Adams is closer to Portland.
- And given the proper position within Portland...yes, you can see them all when looking out from a window.
