Persona

Anne Brockton was born Chikkaya Kali near the Ganges river in India after her mother met her father off the Great Royal road. Her father William "Billy the Badger" Brockton was a trader on the silk road during the 14th century (1330's), who worked with horses. Her mother Chikkaya Priya, was a healer. She kept and cultivated plants that helped stave off illness and aid in the healing of wounds in her small village. When William and Priya met, Priya was asked to join William on his return journey to Europe because of her great skill with medicine. She left her village to gain further knowledge of the worlds other healing plants along with any other knowledge she could gain. On the return journey to europe William and Priya taught one another eachother's native tongues to make communication and the journey easier. Through the long nights of teaching one another they began an intimate relationship. Much to Priya's dismay, William was already married back in europe and had 4 other children. He was able to keep Priya on as a healer in the village he hailed from and was able to discretley help raise Kali from a distance.

Once back in his village in germany, Priya gave birth to a bastard daughter that she essentially rasied alone with only occasional help from William. As a healer she was able to carve out a living quite easily but was shunned within their village as a witch or sorceress because of her skill and her hailing from some far off land. After many years in a strange land feeling very isolated, Priya became more and more homesick and begged William to take her and their 12 year old daughter Kali back to her village near the Ganges river. With much hesitation after hearing of a plague on the road, William agreed. On the journey east, William and Priya were stricken with the plague and Kali was left alone in a strange land she didn't know. She knew germany. The north where it was cold and rainy. Not this hot humid land full of strange things. After her parents died in their sleep, Kali packed what little supplies were left and took her fathers black horse, Lyra, and began traveling in the direction of the heavy laden wagons were going. She continued east until she crossed a very harsh mountain range and would become a camp follower to other larger traveling parties. Gaining access through her learned skills as a healer through her mother. She was able to keep herself fed and clothed in this manner for 3 years. Her horse Lyra had was very old at this time and she knew she wasn't long for this world and no healing medicine would return her forgotten youth.

She began looking for a new mount and saw a strange little grey striped filly in one of the camps she had recently become a follower of. She belonged to another trader who hailed from the northern lands of her father. He said the horses he brought with him were hardy and from the nothern parts of germany and though they weren't large, they made up for it in spirit. Kali had nothing but her medicinal skill to offer. The man saw something else she had to offer. He took her and then afterwards told her she also had a fighting spirit like the filly and gave her the filly she had sought after. The filly was unbroken and a bit wild. She was determined to have this new filly trained within the next turning of the moon. She named the filly Jorah and within the next turning of the moon, she had backed the small horse and every day it became easier and easier to mount the filly and ride for longer and longer each day. Instead of walking on foot along side Jorah she quickly was able to ride her through the majority of the day at a fairly brisk pace. The little mare was worth her weight in gold. But Jorah maintained her wild streak, and any person who approached Kali unannounced would be greeted with the striking of hooves and primal screams from the filly. Kali never scolded her for this trait as she was a young woman traveling alone and any deterant or protection she had was of great aid to her nerves and safety. Jorah's protective streak continued after Lyra joined the starry herds in the night sky.

In this way, Kali and Jorah continued their travels back and forth from east to west along the silk roads. Gathering knowledge and skill while never finding a place to settle and live permanently. She remained an orphaned nomad who gained enjoyment from other cultures and took bits and pieces from everywhere she traveled and bound them to herself as a part of her.
