'''Heavy Scenarios – 8 WP’s'''
There will be four heavy scenarios to determine the War Points, two WP’s each:
: Open field battle, no resurrection, no combat archery
: Open field battle, no resurrection, with combat archery
: Woods battle, with archery, timed capture-the-flag

'''Rapier Scenarios – 4 WP’s'''
There will be four rapier scenarios, 1 WP each.
A certain Troublemaker has provided a few possible scenarios for the rapier War Points, but he's slightly unhinged, so the following scenarios may or may not be for the War Points:
: Burning deck battle | |||
: Capture the flag | |||
: Boarding a ship | |||
: Bridge battle | |||
...or it could be something else entirely. This is what happens when a Troublemaker is in charge.
'''Arts and Sciences – 2 WP’s'''
All participants are invited to contribute an Arts and Science project to assist with this War Point.
: The rules: | |||
: Each person may only contribute one entry
Multiple people may work on one entry, but those involved may not then participate in other entries.
There is no age limit. | |||
All entries must have been completed in the past year, and never been entered in any previous A&S competitions.
Any performance entries must be scheduled in advance.
All entries must have documentation.
Documentation shall be limited to a 4” x 6” index card, both sides (can be typed and pasted, if desired), plus two reference pictures with brief captions in addition to the contents of the card.
Documentation should include the inspiration for the project, the method of construction and/or design, and references.
Entries will be anonymized as much as possible, so do not put your name or affiliation on the documentation.
There will be no discussion between entrants and judges during the competition.
Scores will be determined by up to 10 points in each of the following categories: Craftsmanship, Appearance, Authenticity, and Documentation.
Additional bonus points may be available for the use of honey, beeswax, or other bee-related materials and imagery.
There will be four judges, two from each side.
One WP will be awarded for the highest-scoring single entry, and one WP will be awarded to the side with the highest sum of scores.
: Examples: | |||
* Mistress Laurel Seamchecker of Blatha An Oir submits a beautiful hand-tooled leather pouch based on a extant example with clear, concise documentation and an image of a bee on it. She scores 41 points.
* Lord Newman Greenhorn of Glymm Mere submits a chain mail shirt that his buddy told him how to make so he can go out there and start hitting people. His documentation is complete, but his sources are secondary, at best. His enthusiasm for construction results in a very sturdy, well-made, and attractive product. He scores 22 points.
* Lady Cupcake Jailbait of Glymm Mere and four of her pals sing a madrigal. Their tone is not precisely pure, and there’s a sour note here and there. However, it is an original composition based on a primary source manuscript discussing music theory of the 16th century. They score 26 points.
* One WP is awarded to BAO for the highest overall score, earned by Mistress Seamchecker. The other WP is awarded to GM because, between the two entries, they earned 48 points, 7 points more than BAO.
'''Siege Cooking – 1 WP'''
This is an “Iron Chef” style competition with three secret ingredients announced at the beginning of the competition. Participants are limited to other ingredients and cooking utensils available on site (begging and borrowing is okay!) once the ingredients have been announced. The three ingredients will include a starch, a protein, and a nut. Scoring will be on a scale of 1-5 in the following categories: Taste, Appearance, Use of Secret Ingredients, and Historical Authenticity. Bonus points will be available for the use of honey in a dish. (BYOH) A fixed amount of the secret ingredients will be provided for each participating cooking team, and as many dishes as possible may be prepared from that supply . All dishes must contain at least one of the secret ingredients; the score is determined by how effectively the ingredient(s) are showcased in the dish. The scores for each of the dishes will be summed, and the side with the highest collective score will win the WP.
'''Equestrian – 1 WP'''
What would a war be without cavalry? Come show off your riding skill on a difficult challenge course! There are Saracens in need of having their heads lopped off! Can you convince your horse to back up around a corner? Gracefully? Can you keep the troops fed by bringing home the bacon?
'''Target Archery and Thrown Weapons – 1 WP each'''
The setup for each of these contests is fundamentally the same: the range will be open most of Saturday for a Novelty Shoot/Throw. Each participant will have a chance to practice before aiming for a score, and any contestant can shoot/throw for a score during the time the range is open. Once you’ve declared your intention that it’s “for real,” that’s it – no do-overs. Each participant can only shoot or throw once for a score. Outside of WP competition, the range will be open for other shooting or throwing, but for Saturday, the WP’s take precedence.
'''Champions’ Exhibition – 1 WP'''
Each barony has already determined those that they consider the best in their fields, so let’s pit them against each other! Just after court on Saturday morning, the following pairings will take place:
: Heavy Champions | |||
: Rapier Champions | |||
: Archery Champions | |||
: Thrown Weapons Champions
: Best 5-man Heavy Warband
Whichever side wins at least three out of the five competitions, takes the War Point.
'''Kids – 1 WP''' | |||
Everyone contributes to the war effort, even the kids! Saturday morning, the kids will be making shields to defend themselves valiantly in battle, then storm the castle as fast as possible! Other races, challenges, and activities will be available, as time permits.
'''Volunteers – 2 WP’s'''
We wouldn’t have a war if everyone didn’t help out, so two War Points are up for grabs by those who help make everything happen smoothly. For each hour of service, volunteers will receive a token or ticket to indicate their time spent helping. Particularly distasteful or difficult service will receive “time and a half.” Near the scoreboard, there will be two boxes, one for each side. Put your tokens in the box for your side, and we’ll count them up at the end of the day. Other tokens for service may be available at the discretion of the Honey War staff.
: Volunteer-point eligible service: (* indicates time-and-a-half)
