Saint Giles College (University of Victoria Medieval Club) is located within the bounds of the Barony of Seagirt( Victoria, B.C.), in the Principality of Tir Righ upon the island of Insula Magna (Vancouver Island).

The club is still in existence (as of Fall 2013) but as a branch of the SCA it is currently dormant and is thus in the Category:Defunct Branches.

Historical Summary

Founded : March XXXII/1998

The date of the foundation of the College is somewhat misleading as the UVic Medieval Club has been operating more or less continuously on campus since at least A.S. XIX/1985. For many years the UVic Students Society's annual "Clubs Days" were the largest single source of newcomers to Seagirt when it was still a shire. The College's name, arms (Azure, on a cross argent between four laurel wreaths Or five martlets gules), and badge ((Fieldless) A monk-fish naiant to sinister argent) were all registered in May of 1997.

Major Events

  • Feast of Stories - an event and competition celebrating storytelling sometimes held in conjunction with the Fall Ithra. Has not been held in several years.
  • Convocation - where Fellows and Doctors are admitted each spring after completing their curricula.
