As a young boy Torsten watched as the knights and squires would ride forth, some did not return, but the ones who did returned with glory. He decided that one day he would return with that same glory, but alas at that time he was not yet in a position where he could make that a reality. So, Torsten took on his other great passion cooking. He became a cook of minor renown, so, it was no surprise when Konrad von Thuringen the Count of Grudenberg ordered Torsten's services for a great feasting in his halls, not once but twice Torsten impressed, bringing forth delicacies from both Roma and Germany. Konrad grew weary of his Count ship in Grudenberg-Hessen, and soon felt the call of god, to crusade. In 1234 Konrad departed Grudenberg with a small band of foot soldiers to join with the Teutonic order in Lithuania, seeing this as his chance Torsten took up the call to arms and followed Konrad into the Teutonic Order. Now Torsten is waiting for the day when he maybe called Brother Knight of the Order of the Teutonic Knights of St. Mary's Hospital in Jerusalem. More to come!
