Sibilia is a widow who lives in the city state of Venice at the turn of the 16th century. Upon her husband's death, she is attempting to take on his business as a ''vendecolori'' (color merchant) and navigate the Guild politics of her era.  
 
Sibilia was born in Venice in 1315. Her father, Clario dell'Acqua, was a battiloro (goldbeater) whose family had lived in the city for generations. Her mother, Besina (Iacobetta) Rufino, came from Benevento as a young woman. Clario was not Besina's first husband - she had been married to a mercenary who brought her to Venice. Sibilia was the first child in their marriage, followed by her brother Mafeo. Besina died young, when Sibilia was eight, and she took on many of the household duties and began to assist her father with aspects of business as she grew older. Clario remarried when she was sixteen. Sibilia married a year later to Pascal Zancani, a goldsmith who did business with her father. Although he was significantly older than Sibilia, it was not an unhappy marriage and thought to be an advantageous one as the Zancani family had been founding members of the Goldsmiths' Guild (since 1233) and were thought prosperous.

SCA History

Sibilia (mka Gwen) came to the SCA after witnessing a Blatha an Oir demo at a Dragon Egg Hunt in April 2023. The first event she and her family attended was Embers and Ambrosia in May 2023. She is the partner of Jasper Salles and parent of Elizabeth of Blatha an Oir.
