Meresigha Stonegatta of Witham

I am Mistress Meresigha Stonegatta of Witham, a 10th Century Anglo-Saxon noble.

I began my SCA life in the Kingdom of the West, Principality of An Tir, in Shittimwoode – now called the Shire of Thornwold AS XVI and received an Award of Arms AS XVIII.

I've served as the Shire's Chronicler, Chirurgeon, Fundraiser and Archivist, Exchequer, an Event Steward, Demo Steward, the Kingdom Chronicler for the Doomsday Book, very occasional field herald, and Junior light and heavy marshal. I've fought light in many wars and have been Chirurgeon in Charge of An Tir West war and Clinton war more than once. I am currently the Shire’s Seneschal.

I do the Clinton work week every year, specializing in the bakehouse (I was also the official nasty person, a position I never want to hold again in my entire life).

I do a bit of book and court heraldry, embroidery, cooking, baking. Early period (Saxon and Norse) Elizabethan and Cavalier costuming, weaving, historic research, braiding, basketry, hat making and jewelry making as outlined blelow in classes taught but also including casting lost wax, etching, fabrication, cloisonne enameling. Helm making, plastic armor, riveting, chain maille, outdoor cooking.

I run the Barter Box at events, an attempt to encourage more bartering in the SCA and to give folks something SCA-ish to talk about.

I'm a bookaholic. I like to sing (poorly) and talk history.

I'm a Golden Swan, and very interested in persona development and persona research. I butlered the An Tir Doomsday Book years ago, so I know a bit about turning out large paper projects.

I was involved in the Shittimwoode Baronial movement (as the official nay-sayer). I was in charge of eric reservations at July Coronation. My primary interests (before we became a Principality) were in the Principality movement. I like to leave the heraldry stuff to someone else.
