'''How to Add an Event'''
'''Naming Your Event Page'''
# Create a master event page for your event (e.g. "Shire Picnic") Include <nowiki>[[Category:Events]]</nowiki> at the bottom of this page.
# On the master event page, add a link to your event for this year (e.g. "Shire Picnic XL/2005")
# Add this code to the content area of this year's page: <nowiki>{{subst:EventTemplate}}</nowiki>
# Save the page.
# Open it for editing again.
# Replace the instructions in brackets and the sample text with real event text
# Next year, repeat from Step 2.

* Don't forget to include a link to your branch page
* The default format is: "EventName ASYear/ModernYear". e.g. For this year's "Troll Stomp" the event name would be "Troll Stomp XL/2005".  [[Anno Societatis|Help with ASYear characters]].
* If the event name isn't unique in the Kingdom, add the branch name to the beginning. e.g. For this year's Baronial Banquet in Madrone, it would be "Madrone Baronial Banquet XL/2005" (to distinguish it from "Three Mountains Baronial Banquet XL/2005" or "Lions Gate Baronial Banquet XL/2005").
* Examples from the Wiki: [[Clinton War XL/2005]], [[Seagirt Sergeants Trials XL/2005]]

'''Repeating Events'''
* Events that repeat every year get their own home "EventName" page which lists the events through the years.
* Using the examples from above, these would be called "Troll Stomp" and "Madrone Baronial Banquet".
* This page should include the <nowiki>[[Category:Events]]</nowiki> tag at the bottom so that it will be automatically listed on the [[:Category:Events]] page.
* Examples from the Wiki: [[Clinton War]], [[Seagirt Sergeants Trials]]
* Sample link path: [[:Category:Events]] > [[Clinton War]] > [[Clinton War XL/2005]]

'''Load the Event Templage'''
# To load in the default event template to your blank event page, type this at the top of the blank page: <nowiki>{{subst:EventTemplate}}</nowiki>
# Click the "Save page" button. Click the "Edit" tab to go back into the page.
# Replace all instructions (text in brackets) and all text that starts with "Sample:" with real information. Use the "Show preview" button often to see what your content looks like.

* Don't forget to include a link to the branch on your event page, and a link to your event on your branch page.

* Tip: Calendar copy for An Tir events back to July 2001 can be found on the An Tir website at http://antir.sca.org/Upcoming/index.php (Look for the "Past Events" button just above this month's calendar.) This can be very useful when you're trying to reconstruct events in the past.

Naming Your Event Page

  • The default format is: "EventName ASYear/ModernYear". e.g. For this year's "Troll Stomp" the event name would be "Troll Stomp XL/2005". Help with ASYear characters.
  • If the event name isn't unique in the Kingdom, add the branch name to the beginning. e.g. For this year's Baronial Banquet in Madrone, it would be "Madrone Baronial Banquet XL/2005" (to distinguish it from "Three Mountains Baronial Banquet XL/2005" or "Lions Gate Baronial Banquet XL/2005").
  • Examples from the Wiki: Clinton War XL/2005, Seagirt Sergeants Trials XL/2005

Repeating Events

Load the Event Templage

  1. To load in the default event template to your blank event page, type this at the top of the blank page: {{subst:EventTemplate}}
  2. Click the "Save page" button. Click the "Edit" tab to go back into the page.
  3. Replace all instructions (text in brackets) and all text that starts with "Sample:" with real information. Use the "Show preview" button often to see what your content looks like.
  • Don't forget to include a link to the branch on your event page, and a link to your event on your branch page.
  • Tip: Calendar copy for An Tir events back to July 2001 can be found on the An Tir website at http://antir.sca.org/Upcoming/index.php (Look for the "Past Events" button just above this month's calendar.) This can be very useful when you're trying to reconstruct events in the past.
