The Former Shire of Windwyrm (Lethbridge, AB) was located in the Principality of Avacal. It is now again located in the Kingdom of Avacal.

The sire was first listed as incipient in the Oct 1982 (XVII) Crier. It was listed as a Shire in the Dec 1982 (XVII) Crier. Their device was listed in the LoAR letter of October 21, 1983 A.S. XVIII.

The Shire of Windwyrm was dissolved in Early 2008, although members continue to be active in the Principality of Avacal. The site for May Crown Tournament XLIV/2009, hosted by the Barony of Montengarde, is the same site that Windwyrm's May Days event has historically been held at.

Note: The shire was reformed in the Kingdom of Avacal, incipient in 2014, and full sire in Oct 2017. See their entry in the Avacal Wiki.

Members continue to better the world of historic recreation by holding casual garb, armour, persona, and games nights.

Two local households are present: The Hearthgaurd and the Black Spears These are dictated based on what armour the fighters feel like wearing that day.

Two Main camping events are held for the enjoyment of others:Maydays (May), and Last Hurrah (Sept.)
