When Spring comes to all corners of the Kingdom of An Tir, the highlands of [[Dregate]] will proudly host the tournament to choose the successors to the thrones.

Their Majesties [[Ieuan and Gwyneth]] decreed that May Crown be held at the Okanogan County Fairgrounds to choose Their heirs.

May Crown was hosted by the Shire of [[Dregate]] with invaluable assistance from Inlands branches. Weather was sunny with highs in the low to mid 70s F and lows in the low to mid 40sF with occasional gusty winds. The shire erected a 20-foot canvas gate and several hundred feet of canvas wall, all painted to look like a castle, and the site, though most of it was contained within the fairgrounds race track allowed for equestrian and archery activities in addition to the tournaments.

Garvin MacBrannon, Squire to Sir [[Lachlan MacLean]] won the chivalry prize.


The site is large and relatively level (nearly 80 acres), primitive, with a backdrop of the Okanogan hills and sweeping view of the valley, offers no modern intrusions to the eye.
==Rapier Tournaments==


Weather in May is fair, with average highs of 73 and average lows of 44 in Tonasket, the nearest town. Site elevation is approximately 2,800 ft (853 m), so prepare for bright days and cold nights.

There are four water wells which can provide wash water, but no electricity or RV hookups. There is no cell phone reception.

Participants shall not violate any state, federal or local laws, nor commit any nuisance or damage upon the premises. Pets are welcome; rigorous waste patrol required! Due to the risk of noxious weed contamination, there will be no equestrian activities on site.

Items that cannot easily be recycled or composted, such as glow sticks, styrofoam and plastic silverware are prohibited. Recycling stations are planned; all garbage will be “pack it in, pack it out.”

While the forecast promised winds would be light, brief gusts dropped from the skies on Friday to the discomfiture of some of the merchants. Saturday afternoon, the mother of all dust devils flipped tents, including the Event Steward team kitchen. Though bereft of their shelter and several implements, the team provided supper that evening -- a miraculous feat!
 
Blessings rained down as well: I had an amazing team who did all I asked and more. It was a wonderful experience to work with such talent and dedication. Many gentles from throughout An Tir also leaped in to render aid to merchants and others affected by the pesty winds, which warmed many more hearts than mine alone. A thousand thanks to you all! -- [[Julia Sempronia]]
