Originally held in February (Valentines Day), Daffodil was the premier An Tir tournament of the tourney season. Traditionally, the winner went on to become An Tir sovereign.

It was later the date was moved to March to avoid conflict with Estrella War and to improve weather expectations. Advent of Ursulmas in January removed 'premier' status.

The event was held at James Bay Community Center for many years. As numbers grew the tourney was moved to Bay Street Armouries with the feast being served at HMCS Malahat in A.S. 27. With the following Daffodil being completely at the Armouries. Then event was moved to Saanich Fairgrounds, where it was at home for many years.

Two Daffodils (2003 autocrat James, 2004 autocrat Theocharista) held at Sanscha Hall in Sidney. Returned to Saanich Fairgrounds by Lenora when Sanscha Hall reduced Non-profit discount dramatically.

Daffodil XXXV in A.S. XLVII (2012 autocrat Diamante da Magenta) was held at the Cowichan Exhibition Grounds in North Cowichan, BC; and has been since then. Daffodil Tournament A.S. XLIX/2014 is scheduled for that location as well.
