You Know You're in the SCA When, usually abbreviated as YKYITSCA (with slight variations), is a humerous meme exploring the funny side of life in the Society. Especially those times when your SCA life dribbles over into your modern life...

The classic YKYITSCA example is when you go back to work after an intense weekend of SCA life and you curtsy to your boss or call your co-workers "Milord" or "Milady".

For fighters the equivalent is usually No shit, there I was... stories.

Examples

(Sequence collected from the Steps of the Cathedral, Aug 2006.)

You know you have been playing too long when you hear a loud metal clanging sound when someone is walking past and you expect them to be in armor. You know you have been playing TOO long when this happens at work and it is the tools on a construction workers belt!

Miranda

You know you have been playing too long when the first place you go looking for a roll of duct tape is your event bins and not where it's "supposed" to be (with the household tools).

Kate the Candlemaker

You know you're in the SCA when your 10 yr old daughter comes out of merchants row hugging a sword and chortling with glee

Cerridwen

You take a class at a SF con on 'stage sword fighting' and you find yourself comparing the instructor's fighting styles and weapons with SCA fighting styles and weapons and it turns out he was one of the principals who 'fought' with Adrian Paul on "Highlander" [among other things].

Talk about conjoining worlds...
