Memories

It has come to my ears of Marcos de Fonoda (Father Marcos) sudden passing. He will be missed. As a member of the 7th Cav. he was know by many. His support of Shire of Druim Doineann, The Barony of Blatha an Oir and The Kingdom of An Tir is well known. He's constantly volunteering for night safety patrols, making sure that the gatherings stayed with in reasonable limits and generally making members and guests alike were having a good time.

I lift a mug to a Friend.

Lord Ulrick von Sage

"Father" Marcos did a lot of service over the years, but his great abiding passion was for filking, the practice of setting SCA lyrics to modern music (this is a practice that does indeed date back to the pre-1600s, just not using 20th century pop tunes). :) Love or hate the style, that was his joy and the undertaking he seemed to be most proud to gain word fame for.

At one point I know he had posted all his filks online somwhere, but in my feeble early morning searched I've been unable to unearth them. Perhaps someone more skilled (and awake) than I might take on tracking them down and posting it as a way to share his legacy. Something else that he would have loved is for someone to sponsor a bardic & or filk competition in his name (please note: I don't currently have the time or energy to undertake it myself). He had himself sponsored these competitions in the past and I believe would loved to have been remember in that way.

In joyous service to letting everyone find their own dream,

Raphaella

Much has been said, sincerely and well.
I offer two joys and two regrets.
I call that man my friend. I met him here. Filks were...our babies. A rather terrifying [ oh, you knew him? ] number of his filks got into our publications, in Rebel Filk, Forever Filk, and other places.
Huzza for those things.
Sniff for these:
Never met the man face to face, despite rather incontinent mutual promises of quaffs owed.
Never performed while he was alive, his filked "Total Eclipse of the Heart." Was gonna send him a CD thereof.
Double-sniff.
