| 1350-1400 Wales/England. Father was a poor nobleman turned sailor, Mother was the daughter of a Welsh march lord, and a complete shrew. Sent to the Carthusian nunnery, half to control the young girl, half willingly - to get away from her mother. Never took full vows; never married, leaving herself completely and cheerily disgraced. Ended up as a spinster learning astronomy, becoming fascinated by the Black Death, and generally making a nuisance of herself throughout the British isles.
