Summary

Flannacán began participating in the SCA in 2002 as a member of the House of Hormones. Now also a member of House Jormungandr, he is known for his unparalleled enthusiasm and oftentimes humorous antics. His escapades have resulted in numerous inter-kingdom stories and two songs.

Despite occasionally making trouble for himself, Flannacán has been acknowledged at times by the leaders of both his households for his personal growth, tenacious spirit, and irrepressibly jovial nature.

Flannacán is apprentice to Ceridwen o Aberystwyth, and Stívarðr of House Jormungandr.

Persona

"Born a bastard in the year of our Lord, 923, to a monk's last hope. I grew up between the legs of cows that my uncle tended for my mother. I learned to speak Latin and read Greek from a Christian hermit, formerly a monk from somewhere farther east. He spoke sometimes what he told me was Anglo-Saxon. My mother and aunt, who lived with us, died of some dark illness when I was just a man. After that, I sold our cattle to my father's only brother, and took the advice of my teacher and left that place.

I tended and milked cows until I came to a monestary in Southern Uí Néill where they recognized the hermit's name and insisted that I stay. I took to their way for a long time. What I discovered was that the community they sought in cloisters I had already found among strangers in hostels, trading towns and other places on the rocky road. Toward the end of my postulancy, when I was 23, I renounced the ascetic order and left for the Black Pool in the East, where I heard getting on a ship was easier than getting on a woman.

There I met the dark-skinned Tadgh in a hostel - my bottle of wine being empty - and resolved a dispute between him and a western man who had drank too much. We proceeded to drink too much ourselves, and I woke up the next day a mess in my own crimson vomit who knows how far out to sea."
