The Barony of Aquaterra invites you to the Ursulmas Tournaments taking place January 24-25, 2026! Demonstrate your martial prowess or cheer on our wonderful competitors. Ursulmas 2026 will be held at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, Washington.

This year we have separated our tournaments and our public demo into two separate events. Ursulmas Tournaments features tournaments for heavy combat, rapier, cut & thrust, target archery, combat archery, thrown weapons, and youth armored combat. Seating in the bleachers gives a birds-eye view to the arena so you can enjoy it all at once.

Site opens to volunteers for setup at noon on Friday, January 23, 2026. Gate will be open for early check-in/registration from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Friday. Activities are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

In the spirit of chivalry and honor, I, Saint Ursul, invite you to the grand Ursulmas Tourney and Feast of Saint Ursul. This celebration marks the anniversary of my valiant rescue of the Lady of Aquaterra and stands as a testament to unwavering devotion and knightly valor.

Join us in the Barony of Aquaterra, where we shall celebrate the virtues of courage, loyalty, and honor. Don your finest medieval attire and let the revelry commence! In the spirit of fun we shall have a contest for The Best Dressed Bear (or bear-friend). The Best Dressed will be selected by the Populace. Unless otherwise requested, all entries will be donated to baronial largesse.

May your paws be steady and your spirits high!

Arts & Sciences Salon

If combat is not to your taste, fear not! A space will be available for gentles to gather and socialize while working on small projects. So bring your scribal work, embroidery, nalbinding, and more to our arts & sciences salon.

Pre-Registration is now closed. If you need to sign up for lists, you can do so here.
Fill out the form for each attendee, use the SAME EMAIL if paying for multiple attendees at once. Invoices will be sent to the email address entered.
Please also note: Once you submit your form(s), you should see an invoice from PayPal within 3-5 business days to the email listed on the form(s) submitted. If you have not seen the email after 7 days, please reach out to aquaterraforms@gmail.com.

Pre-registration payments must be received on or before January 21st if paying via PayPal to be considered pre-registered. Form closes on January 11th at 10:00pm to allow the 10 day period of payment allowed by PayPal.

Entry Fees can be paid by check or money order, but these must be received in the PO Box by January 13th to be confirmed. Please allow plenty of time if you decide to pay by mail. You will receive a PayPal invoice, but can ignore this if you choose to pay by mail. The invoice will be cancelled once the Exchequer receives your check, and you will receive a notification.

•• Registering children is no charge, but will speed up the entry process. Youth and Children must either be accompanied by parent/guardian or you may bring any minor that is not your own, but their parent or guardian must complete both of the SCA Inc. required forms prior to your arrival. Statement from the SCA – Please Read
The SCA prohibits harassment and bullying of all individuals and groups. Harassment and bullying includes, but is not limited to the following:

   offensive or lewd verbal comments directed to an individual;

   the display of explicit images (drawn or photographic) depicting an individual in an inappropriate manner;

   photographing or recording individuals inappropriately to abuse or harass the individual;

   inappropriate physical contact; unwelcome sexual attention; or retaliation for reporting harassment and/or bullying.

Participants violating these rules are subject to appropriate sanctions. If an individual feels subjected to harassment, bullying or retaliation, they should contact a Seneschal, President of the SCA, or the Kingdom’s Board Ombudsman. If a participant of the SCA becomes aware that someone is being harassed or bullied, they have a responsibility pursuant to the SCA Code of Conduct to come forward and report this behavior to a Seneschal, President of the SCA or Kingdom’s Board Ombudsman.

Lodging Information

Electric-only RV spaces will be available at the event. No septic or water hookups will be available. We have a limited number of priority spaces for ADA guests and Royalty in that order by the archery range. Additional spaces are available in Lot 1 a small distance behind the arena. Due to the placement of the live archery and thrown weapons ranges, we need folk to not walk or drive on the road between the indoor or outdoor arenas, so you’ll need to drive from your RV spot to the main parking lot via the main road, 179th Avenue, unless you’re in one of the priority spots near the arena entrance.

   Priority Spaces are $35/day

While RV spaces can be reserved in advance, they can’t be paid in advance because the funds belong to the Fairgrounds, so please bring cash or a check to write out to them on site. Our gate staff will assist with the process when you arrive!

Heavy Fighting Tournaments
Saturday:
Tournament of St. Ursul: Ursulmas Armored Combat Tournament
The traditional round-robin armored combat tournament will once again be held on Saturday at Ursulmas. The top 2 competitors from each eric will advance to a single-elimination Sweet 16 semi-finals. From there, the two finalists will compete in a best 2-out-of-3 finals.
Sunday:
Ursulmas Bear Meat Tournament
This is open to all non-belted fighters who have never won a tournament.
Period Armor Kit Tournament
The Period Kit Tournament, this year brought to you by HL Andromacha Tis Lésvos, is a celebration of those fighters and their kits that inspire us, with their focus on historical appearance. Prize is custom shield with heraldry built by Sir Gavin and painted by Lady Andromacha.

   Format to be decided depending on number of competitors.

   No visible plastic save shield bosses and basket hilts (bosses preferred not metal).

   No visible modern equipment save foot wear.

   Be able to discuss time frame and region your kit is inspired by.

Gideon de Noirville Memorial Tournament for the Over 40
Come one come all, see the storied warriors of old. Witness the power of those ancient heroes as they shuffle their way on to the field to do mortal geriatric combat. Feel the earth tremble under your feet as they waddle out to face each other on the field of honor, if they can see that far. This year’s tournament will be fought in Honor of Aladar Stansson. Format will be determined by the number of participants.

Combat Archery Tournament
Sunday:
The tournament will be a corridor tournament. The format will be round Robin followed by Single Elimination. Fighters may enter the field with any combination of 12 missiles (arrows, bolts, thrown weapons).
It will be a double or single Round Robin (numbers dependent), the results of which will be used to seed the Single Elimination rounds that will continue until there is only one left standing.

Rapier and Cut & Thrust Tournaments

Armor & Weapon Inspection: Marshals will be available before each tournament for weapon and armor inspection. All weapons and armor must be inspected before the start of each tournament, and to conform to An Tir rules. Any fighter found with substandard armor and/or weapons will be asked to correct any issues before re-inspection and participation in tournaments and scenarios.

Pick Up Fighting: Erik space will be available for pickup fighting, and for any additional fighting once tournaments are completed. Please ensure a marshal is available during pick up fighting. Eriks will close prior to Royal Court on Saturday (5 PM) and prior to Closing Court on Sunday (3 PM)

Bear Claw Rapier Tournament
Fighters who have not won a Kingdom, Principality, Baronial championship, a previous Bear Claw tournament, or equivalent may enter. Tournament will be fought as a Swiss pairing, with total # of rounds determined by volume of entrants.

Ursa Major Pooled Rapier Tournament
Tournament will be fought as a pooled round robin.

Cut & Thrust Accolades Tournament
Entrants choose a historical form or school to compete, with the best demonstration winning. This tournament will be judged by a panel of Masters of Defense and Order of the White Scarf. If you are interested in judging please reach out to Don Samuel.

   Contestants may need to answer questions and present papers, essays, or research to support their fight.

   Open to all cut & thrust fighters, but the winner will be selected via accolades.

Tournament will be fought as a pooled round robin.

Grumpy Old Bear Rapier Tournament
Entrants must be over 40 years of age. Tournament will be fought as a Swiss pairing, with total # of rounds determined by volume of entrants.

Cut & Thrust Tournament

Youth and Family Activities

We are pleased to invite the youth among you to join us for Youth Armored Combat! Available for youth aged 6 –17 years.

The mission of our SCA youth martial programs is to provide a safe and fun environment where the youth can participate in martial activities at a level appropriate to their age. The goal is to introduce and reinforce the ideals of chivalry, honor, courtesy, service, and heraldic pageantry, both on and off the list field. The program stresses good sportsmanship and parental participation. It is designed to allow the youth to learn more about all aspects of the Society and above all, HAVE FUN! Throughout the event there will be opportunities for youth to try on the basic armor and to practice in the list field with the practice swords so that they can get a feel of how Youth Armored Combat works. Youth must be accompanied at all times by an adult guardian with a properly signed medical waiver and be able to sign a single use combat waiver, forms available on this site soon, as well as at the event. There will also be the Ursa Minor Tournament of the SCA Youth Armored Combat that everyone is welcome to watch and cheer for the youth of our kingdom.
