Alaskan Branches

The Principality of An Tir contained the various branches in Alaska while it was part of the Kingdom of the West. When An Tir became a Kingdom (Jan 16 1982 at Twelfth Night) these branches stayed with the West.

The branches included:

Canton of Afognack (Alaska)

First mentioned in the May 1977 Crier.

Mentioned as a Shire in the May 1978 Crier, seeking Baronial status.

Made a Barony January 20, A.S. XIII (1979)

June 1979 Crier mentions the newsletter is The Eskalya Chronicle.

Dec 1979 Crier mentions it as a Barony, with the second Baron and Baroness installed.

Freehold of Silviergard / Selveirgaard, Eskalya

Established Jan 1979

Mentioned in the April 1979 Crier.

Mentioned as Freehold of Selveirgaard (Chugiak) in Dec 1981 Crier.

Their founding baroness, Margarita, relates:

Their research at the time showed Silviergard to mean Freehold

The residents, being very indipendant, styled themselves as "trolls", and wanted to clearly show they were not part of the nearby Barony of Eskalya

Later became a shire (Jan 1983), and then a Barony (May 2003)

Shire of Wintersgate (Fairbanks)

First Event August, A.S. XIII (1978)

Mentioned in the April 1979 Crier.

September 1979 Crier lists it as Canton of Winter's Gate.

Heraldry registered November, A.S. XIV (1979) as Shire of Winter's Gate

September 1981 Crier mentions it being changed to a Provence of the West at Lord Defenders Tourney in May.

Later became a Barony in Jan 1984

Shire of the Thousand Isles (Jeneau)

First Event, March, A.S. XV (1981)

First mentioned in May 1981 Crier as incipient.

Later changed name to Earngyld, became Barony (1984), succeed from Oertha to become a March of the West (Jan 1997).

Change to Shire 2003, dissolved July 2004.

Became incipient shire again in Oertha Oct 2004.

College of Winter's Keep (College)

First mentioned in December 1981 Crier.

Note College is a Census Designated Place near Fairbanks, containing the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Later changed name to College of St. Boniface, inside Barony of Winter's Keep.
