A standard is a large flag that follows a traditional heraldic format. They are long flowing affairs, and can be eight or more feet long. They typically consist of elements from your badges (although many SCA standards use elements from their devices), motto bends, and your heraldic colors. They may or may not include the kingdom populace flag as the first element at the hoist (nearest the pole), or some other group affiliation (Barony or other branches populace flag, household device, or so on). They may have a border or fringe that consists of alternating colors from your heraldry.
