Cold Keep May Champions Tournament, May XLI/2006
Greetings,
Congratulations to the new Shire of Cold Keep Champions: Henry Hawkyns (Rapier and Archery) and His Lordship Nathanial MacAndrew (Heavy). Huzzah!
Thanks to everyone who attended and to all that helped me pull this year's Champions Event together. (I have made my list and checked it twice.)
Her Ladyship Brigit ingen Meic Thíre Ruaidh - for her guidance and advice for my first solo attempt at autocratting (the reminders on deadlines, materials and paperwork required at each step were invaluable), marshalling and heralding the heavy tourney, water-bearing as needed, and staying for the clean-up on Sunday.
Lord Markus Pheilsmid - for making and donating the site tokens, donating the Archers Grail again this year, transporting assorted event and tourney items to and from the site, help with the set-up and clean-up, some kitchen help, water-bearing as needed, holding the Spot Shoot on Sunday morning and, most of all, being my emotional support throughout the sometimes frustrating moments over the last three months.
Lord Argan of Lionsdale, returning 2005 Rapier Champion - for travelling so far to put on the Rapier Champions Tourney that everyone who participated reported as fun - no matter how they placed in the finals - and his input on the tourney schedule.
Lord Brynach ap Rhys, returning 2005 Archery Champion - for putting on the Archery Champions Tourney that challenged and amused experienced and new archers alike, forwarding for my attention a major flaw in my original tourney schedule in time to correct it, and staying for the clean-up on Sunday.
The Honourable Lord Vladimir Andreivich Aleksandrov, defending 2005 Heavy Champion - for putting on a Heavy Champions Tourney that allowed many opportunities for the fighters to display the virtues of Chivalry, Honour and Valour on the field - there were many moments of hilarity, too ;D - also, for querying some of the local heavy fighters and forwarding his conclusions to help in deciding the over-all tourney schedule.
His Lordship Argyle MacMillan - for offering his first aid skills and we are all grateful he had few opportunities to exercise them.
Her Ladyship Chinua Qorchin, known as Tatiana the Outspoken - for running the Lists for the Heavy Tourney.
Lord Alasdair Daibhidh Grioghair MacGrioghair of the Clan MacGrioghair of Glengyle - for the assistance in tidying up in the hall on Sunday and allowing me to vent a little on Saturday afternoon - just having someone listening helped me regain my perspective. :)
Lady Brynn MacDonald - for helping me gather the eric, first aid and waterbearing things on such short notice last week, and for making coffee on Sunday.
Lord Brennan MacDonald - for gathering some last-minute hall and gate items and his input on the tourney schedule.
HL Brigit, Henry Hawkyns, Leah Duncan, Bantiarna (Lady) Niamh ingen Raigillig - for offering crash space to our friends from afar whether it was used or not.
Lord Casey O'Raigillig - for teaching at least three people the rudiments of Nine Men's Morris.
Thank you also to Liam Dughlus and Gretta of Tir Bannog and Lord Argan of Lionsdale who all travelled from Tir Righ to compete and play with us.
A big "thank you" to anyone I have missed or help I have not mentioned here. I could not have done it alone and I relied on the experience and skills of many people.
Any omissions are a result of poor memory and note-taking skills, not a lack of gratitude. :)
