Court Report
Notes from Their Royal Majesties Court
Gulf Wars
Greetings, noble cousins!
The following business occurred in the Gulf Wars Court of Their Royal Majesties Wilam and Siobhan. The following excellent account was penned by His Grace, Duke Tjorkill Kanne.
The Knighting of Njal
Dozens of challengers littered the field during the fierce skirmishes of Gulf Wars, culminating with a mighty battle between brother Kings, Wilam of An Tir and Uther, King of the West.
When the day's battles wanned, His Majesty An Tir called for the members of the Order of Chivalry to attend him. When all were assembled, and surrounded by the Royalty of the known world, He bade Njall Tjorkilsson kneel down before Him.
King Wilam invited Njal to join the order of Knighthood. Njal asked to be released from the service of His Grace, Duke Tjorkill, to whom he was squired. After returning his red belt, he accepted the invitation and took the oath with His Majesty's sword.
Spurs were buckled to his heels by King Uther and Tjorkill. The spurs had previosly been worn and crafted by His Majesty, Wilam. A chain belonging to Tjorkill was placed about his neck and with three touches of His sword, Wilam created Sir Njal Tjorkillsson.
Before the symbol of his rank, the white belt, was place 'round his waist by the Queen of the Middle, the lineage of the belt was read:
First came William of Houghton who gave it to Edward Zifran in AS VIII who passed it to Manfred Kriegstreiber in AS XII who handed it to Tjorkill Kanne in AS XXIII who, this day, granted it to Njal.
Finally, it was time to deliver the buffet, the last blow he was to receive unanswered. Stepping forward, King Uther delivered a blow that sent Njal reeling back. Just kidding, that was just the second to the last blow.
King Wilam then told the still swaying Njal that if he returned this final blow (no, really), it would definately be his last. His Majesty showed a measure of brotherly compassion by striking the other cheek, as the other side was beginning to swell.
When the new Knight was coherent, he was greeted by his brothers as tears were seen in the gathered populace. Knighted by the King of An Tir, buffetted by two Kings, belted by the Queen of the Middle and given by An Tir to the Midrealm for his oath to Their Crown, Njal was truly a Knight of all men. Congratulations to Sir Njal!
Final Court
When swords were finally laid to rest and the last battle-weary warriors left the field, it was time to ready the Royals for Final Court.
Once gathered, An Tir's King and His younger brother, the King of the West, awaited Their turn to process. Heralded in by his Grace, Tjorkill, the brother Kings marched into court together while the flames of Ansteorra and Trimaris glowed above them.
In time it became An Tir's turn for to address the gathered people and after thanking the autocrat and gifting her with Celtic arm bands, King Wilam called forward his father.
His Majesty stated to Tjorkill that there was a man, without mentor, who had done great deeds for An Tir and the West. He went on to say that if His Grace would not take this man into the house of Kanne, His Majesty would take his bond Himself. Alexander, son of Gray, was called before them and his praises spoken to the populace by King Wilam, King Uther and Duke Tjorkill. He was put on a quest to consider all things upon the return to their homeland.
Final thank you's were given, and the last visiting court was closed.
So ends Duke Torkill's account.
Long live King Wilam! Long live Queen Siobhan!
And for this, the greatest kindom in the known world - An Tir! An Tir! An Tir!
