In addition to Reign Numbering, the following numbering standard has been used here:
* If a royal person changed names between reigns, the numbering follows the person not the name. E.g. Arthur changed his name to Eirikr after his first reign and went on to sit the thrones twice more. He is Arthur I, Eirikr II, and Eirikr III
* If one of the royal couple has reigned before but not with this particular consort, the reign page is "Bubba and Bitsy", but the heading on the page should be adjusted to "Bubba II and Bitsy". E.g. Manfred and Morwyn

Their Majesties were dressed in the scythian style wearing pale yellow linen coats. His Majesty's coat had appliqued designs in black and shades of green and camel over a white linen shirt embroidered in crimson. Down the front of the coat were bronze metal ravens. Her Majesty's coat had beautiful appliqued designs in crimson leather and down the sleeves were sewn plaques of scythian style deer. Her Majesty's scarlet skirt was all over embroidered with fine gold metal thread, while His Majesties trousers of olive green were appliqued with the same crimson leather as Her coat.

How to Add a Reign

We will be creating a page for Lord Bubba and Lady Bitsy, new royal heirs.

  1. Create a page for the royal couple.
    1. If this is Their first reign together, call the page "Bubba_and_Bitsy". E.g. Manfred and Morag
    2. If this is not the first time this couple has reigned together, create a secondary page and call it "Bubba_II_and_Bitsy_II". (See Reign Numbering and #More Reign Numbering for instructions.) Move the original reign page to "Bubba_I_and_Bitsy_I". Create a new page "Bubba_and_Bitsy" and on it add links to both reigns. E.g. Steingrim and Lenora (If in doubt, just create the new "Bubba_II_and_Bitsy_II" page and ask a more experienced An Tir Wiki user to sort out the rest.)
  2. Add this code to the new reign page:
  3. Save the page.
  4. Open it for editing again.
  5. Replace the instructions in brackets and the sample text with real information

More Reign Numbering

In addition to Reign Numbering, the following numbering standard has been used here:

  • If a royal person changed names between reigns, the numbering follows the person not the name. E.g. Arthur changed his name to Eirikr after his first reign and went on to sit the thrones twice more. He is Arthur I, Eirikr II, and Eirikr III
  • If one of the royal couple has reigned before but not with this particular consort, the reign page is "Bubba and Bitsy", but the heading on the page should be adjusted to "Bubba II and Bitsy". E.g. Manfred and Morwyn

Content Ideas for Reign Pages

Some ideas for what to include on each reign's page. Gleaned without permission from the Steps. --Elizabeth Braidwood 16:21, 26 Jul 2005 (EDT)

Wouldn't it be nice if there were a current reign website? Where, in addition to Royal Progress, the King and Queen, as well as members of retinue are identified (with a brief bio perhaps) and their jobs briefly described. Also, people who made garb for their majesties or did something special for the reign could be identified, and their work explained.

The site could be a way of recognizing all the talent and efforts that go into each reign, as well as serving as a teaching tool for those who would like to learn more about what a retinue does. The people who serve the Kingdom as part of a reign are often very public in the SCA eye... People look to them (and at them) for how to behave, what to wear and how to play. They are curators of the game. They do a fabulous job of it. We should feature this in its own place, where everyone has easy access to the information.

To a newcomer, the jobs on the retinue may not be clear... how nice would it be, to be able to look those things up at the end of an event, recognize the people by the photos, and therefore put some pieces together and begin to understand how a reign works...

Garb worn by the retinue could be described in detail, so those who wanted examples of good costuming could have live ones... The theme of each reign could be explained in further detail... so on and so forth... People who wanted to learn more about a specific thing could know who to talk to about it, without waiting to meet someone who knows someone, etc... Artisans who busted their butt to make things would have well-deserved permanent recognition for their efforts... (Completed reigns could be archived... people could look back and see different styles and how they come together as a Kingdom)
