Both in the game (and, I think in SCA households) if you choose a Spring covenant, you get lots of direct influence on how it runs, but don't have lots of resources. Summer has more resources and organization, but folks coming in have a harder time being in the lead of things. In Autumn you still have access to lots of resources, but perhaps aren't growing, and might start shrinking. Winter is folks hanging on to the past, but it's possible to start it up again.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but it seems to fit in my experience.
