Ursula von Freiburg
Ursula von Freiburg often has many things to say, and often in many more words than is necessary. She deeply appreciates your time and begs your forgiveness if this all runs a bit long.
In Society life, Ursula comes from the Shire of Thornwold, where she began playing around 2013 CE. She immediately jumped in with her housemates Genevieve and Li Yan, as well as her long-time friends Jadwiga and Mikolai, the latter two which are most to blame for getting the former three involved. Their mutual focus was almost immediately service, with only the occasional antics, most notably when they helped push for the Shire’s name change. When the Thornwold Scriptorium was founded, Ursula lent her hand in calligraphy. Soon after she began wordsmithing, which turned out to be her passion. She has been writing words for SCA charters, scrolls, site copies, and sundries since 2018, and has to date produced over 130 sets of words. A collection of these words can be found at the link below; more recent updates will be made on her website when time allows.
When at events, Ursula is often quiet and withdrawn, but she is always happy to chat or lend a hand as needed. She has helped with almost every event Thornwold has run since joining, as well as at other events with cleaning, retinue, gate, on-site scribing, some list, miscellany chores, and some heavy fighting marshaling, though she has to get her card renewed to gest back to that. Her SCA resume, as best it can be organized, is found LINK. She can often be found by her straw hat or her basket, which often has a stuffed badger watching from the edge.
In medieval life, Ursula von Freiburg is, unsurprisingly, from Freiburg, in the Bavarian area known modernly as Germany. She hails from around 1526 and she spends her time running the bookbinding shop that her husband’s family established. Her husband is often away on travel, but they communicate with general fondness on the status of his travels and what goods he will be returning home with. Ursula often insists he bring home stories from these far-flung lands, as she loves a good story. They have a small badger-like son named Klaus who is often at Ursula’s side.
