Long ago in the Barony to the North there was an Arts and Sciences event held. The Baroness at the time held a contest where members of the populace would enter a plush animal dressed as a member of the populace, with a story about the plush animal. Letica entered one she called "The Spamster" which was a small roundish hamster like animal, she made it a red hood, a muslin tunic and black belt. She surrounded it with wood chips. The story went something like, "The spamster is a crumundionedy but lovable member of our group who can always be found by following the trail of wood chips he leaves behind." It of course won by a wide margin.

A couple of weeks later Leticia went to the Seneschal of the then incipient canton of Wyewood and asked if we could use a hamster as a mascot, he saw no reason not to do so and provided her with a period woodcut of a hamster. She took this to Countess Elizabeth who then suggested bat wings to make it a demi creature, provided one of her favorite names from period, and made documentation so solid that the college of heralds wrote, "although we hate it, the documentation is too strong for us to fail it." Mistress Tamlynn and Lady Draga Avicia drew the first Bubba. Master Gordon made two bubba plates, and the first bubba stamp (and 2nd, 3rd, 4th...) Lady Drogga made the bubba tray. Lady Aedla, and Lord Robbin made a Bubba head out of sausage. Leticia and others made the bubba head out of paper-mâché. I do remember a bubba that was made from a block of cheddar. and a bubba cake. Lady Leticia found the hamster hand puppets that many people in the populace carry. Master Rauthuflr made the first Bubba Web site Lord Lovell wrote many songs about Bubba.

(corrections snipped and added to above)

There have been many people who have been part of Wyewood over the years, often it's where people start, some of them go on to greater things, some drop out, and some set up camp and stay. Something about the only Shire in the world that eats the same number of meals as hobbits.
