Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 10, 2012.

If you have not attended this event, it is a 1 day event for the Youth of An Tir. There will be several tracks of Youth classes and activities throughout the day. A light lunch will be provided and a Youth friendly feast, with foods that kids like to eat.

I love this event. The last Youth Allthing had classes and activities all day for kids. Scavenger hunt, drum circle, hunting with ferrets, middle eastern dance, folk dance, banner making, silk painting, paper making, heraldic recognition, courtly graces, needle felting, pouch making, tunic making, kite making, baking shield cookies and decorating them with heraldic devices, how to enter an arts & science or bardic competition, youth armored fighting, armor making, archery, thrown weapons, rapier. And lunch and then a feast with good period kids food. (no peas!)

My favorite part is a scavenger hunt that we do while setting up for the feast that requires the children to find designated peers and introduce themselves with the appropriate bow/ courtsey and they will receive a token of some sort and a prize in the end. This shows them that the royals/peers are very approachable and helpful.

The future of An Tir is in the hands of our Youth. Let's teach them how to be active participants and how to play this game we all love so much.
