I am Hákon third son of Þorr. I was named during Gói the year Thorgeir died. Farming where I grew up was difficult, the ground did not like growing food. Try as hard as we might, my brothers and I could make very little came of it. When both my older brothers went to fight for Raggnar it fell to me to take mother to the fjord so she could trade the finger rings, neck-rings and arm rings father made. Mother looked for the other fruits and vegetables we needed while I sailed out a little ways to cast a net into the fjord. Father tried to teach me how the bend the silver, he said I was good at it, a natural even, but I found it boring. I dreamed of honoring Thunar, Tyr and Woden with tales of battle so I could go to Valhalla since Niffleheim did not sound like the place for me. And so when Ivar came looking for sword arms I jumped at the chance to go a viking. And now that I'm old, my body denying any more abuse, I fall back on the trade of my father. Adventure and excitement being a sport for the young and foolish, I relish the chance for boring now.
Father told me "remember nothing of me if not these three things:
- Stand by your own trial and not by what others say
- Don’t be intimidated when the odds are stacked against you. One voracious warrior can overpower ten apathetic men.
- Ill it is to abandon honor and integrity in exchange for injustice and greed."
