In the Beginning

Sigrún stumbled upon the SCA in the spring of 1997 in a little shire called Hartwood. She dabbled in early Celtic culture for a few years as Aebfhinn, otherwise known as the name that no one could pronounce.

The Russian Years

Due to the influence of some fabulous residents of the Barony of Seagirt, she decided on a persona shift. She took on the late period Russian persona, Magdalina Voronova, a 16th century Muscovite. She attained her Award of Arms during the time she played as this persona. Her AoA scroll was custom made by Nadezhda Toranova. During this time, she became very interested in A&S, particularly the scribal arts, and was invited to become the apprentice of Maister Iago ab Adam.

During this time, real life got in the way, and our intrepid heroine took a big step away from the SCA.

The Inevitable Return

After a time away, Sigrún saw the light of Asgard and in about 2011 returned to the SCA, taking on a Norse persona. With the direction of many wise people, she has begun to delve into the research necessary to fill out her persona as a "complete person", including gaining the skills necessary for a Scandinavian woman in approximately 900 CE.

In December of 2015, Sigrún finally gathered up her research and submitted her name and heraldry to the scrutiny of the society's heralds.

At Seagirt's Daffodil Tournament in March 2016, Sigrún was officially taken as apprentice by Viscountess Nadezhda Toranova.

Areas of Interest

Sigrún has a burning desire to "learn all the things". Currently she has experience in many forms of calligraphy, illumination, embroidery, and early period costuming. She is striving to master many new skills, such as: naalbinding, tablet weaving, hand sewing, and leather working. She plans on learning carving, posement creation, brocading, and wire weaving in the future.

Kin & Cohorts

  • Sigrún was previously a member of the Mjöðgarðr, a Viking Age household based primarily in the shire of Hartwood for some time, but since most of the household members became inactive, she has moved on. Her current household is Ættin Öndsson.
