Persona

I am Sextus Equities Nudist Xubulus and I was born July 10 of 770AD in the city known as Constantinople. I was born into a very wealthy  family both in name and coin. My family's name was well known across the lands for our family has been making Roman wine which started with my great great grandfather and he past down his gifts for brewing to his son and it has continued down the family line. I had a brother who was two years older than me named Marcus. 6 years after I was born my little brother Demenz Verious was born. We grew up learning from our father a retired soldier now following in his father's footsteps making Roman wine. He always pushed and trained all three of us to become soldiers like he was. He always said it would make us men. Marcus loved the idea of becoming a soldier but myself I wanted to live life away from the war have a family and grow old. We spend most of our days playing soldier in our fruit fields and helping our father run the family business.

In the year 786 there was a conspiracy to undermine the council within the city. My older brother also turned of age the same year and listed himself into the city guard. Marcus was killed that year while helping to disperse a small gathering of angry citizens in the market place. I was only 16 at the time and did not know how to take his death. I did not know what to do so I took up my brother Marcus name and left the city to join the fight at the front lines of the war. After leaving the city no one knew me by face or my brother so I signed up for a 10 year contract. After 8 long years of war not really knowing what or who we were fighting. My general come to me one night and told me. I was being called home. My father had past on and they needed me there and because of my services for the past 8 years on the front lines of the war. My general signed off that my 10 year contact was completed and that I was granted retirement.

So after 8 long years I returned to my city Constantinople. The last time I seen my home I was a 16 year old boy but now I was a 24 year old man. As I rode into the city I started remembering being a young boy playing war games with my brothers it felt like a life time ago.

I spent the next year trying to live in a city that had changed so much. I would get up as the sun came up. Then I would eat a light meal most of the time bread dipped in wine, olives, cheese and grapes. Then off to check the fields which would take most of the morning. Then around mid day I would head To the market stopping at one of the taverns for something to eat and then off to the small family store to sell our family wines. I would be there for the rest of the day helping our workers with everyday business. I would get back to our house just as the sun would be setting were my mother would have dinner waiting. Which would vary from wild boar, lamb, duck or chicken. After eating I would clean myself up in our bath house then spend the rest of the night going over scrolls from the store, the fields and other family business.

Things in the city had changed so much it's like the Roman Empire is being pushed out and our way of life was no more. So for the safety of my family in the spring of 801AD I sold off all our family land and holdings, packed up my mother, little brother Demenz and as much as we could take with us and we left the city after a month on the road we payed our way onto a ship headed across the sea to find new lands.

We had been what felt like a year at sea stopping here and there so the ship mates could buy or trade and even steal what they needed to keep going. When we got stuck in a storm like I had never seen before the next thing I remember is waking up on a beach. I looked for my family hoping they too washed up on the beach I was able to find Demenz but our mother was nowhere to be found. We later found out we were in a small town that was on a vary large island and the lands we were in are part of a shire named Hartwood.

After staying a few nights at a local tavern I took what remaining gold I had and got some land within Hartwood and started to rebuild my life. The land we got had grapes and a few other fruits growing on it so I started making wine again.

It has been 5 years now, since we came across this island. I have continued to make Roman wine but I have also started to make mead. Which really is just honey - wine but more people in my new found lands like it over Roman wine. I have also taken a wife from this lands her name is Aria. I have also been given the title of Lord Sextus but I have chosen to go by Dominus Sextus which from my home land means Lord Sextus. My brother Demenz has moved on to start his own life. Which brings us to the present day.
