Mission Statement
Where friends, chivalry, war and fun all come together. We are a household in the Society for Creative Anachronism - playing in the southern end of the Kingdom of Antir - mostly in the Portland-metro area. We aim to Serve the Dream by serving our local leaders & groups, the SCA community in general and each other.
History
The River Dragons as an initial concept started as a warband - a group of war fighters who train together as a cohesive unit for war scenarios. Currently, River Dragon members can be found excelling in multiple disciplines throughout An Tir: Heavy fighters, target archers, youth champions, and the pursuit of A&S projects. The household is now primarily service-oriented, with members making a point to participate heavily in volunteer opportunities.
Events
The River Dragons as a household (in conjunction with The Barony Of Three Mountains) holds Tryggvy's War, a biennial event held in even-numbered years. Here the members of the household strive to excel in the art of running a successful event. River Dragons innovations traditional at Tryggvy's War are the Merchant's Row Brute Squad (helping merchants to load and unload, setup and teardown), the "Pick, Pass, or Play" Bardic (non-competitive), and a real emphasis on activities for non-fighters throughout the event.
