Brief Background:

Petra attended her first SCA event at Kent Canterbury Faire in 1993. She was inducted into the Daughters of Loki in January 1994 at Urselmas. She was a regular participant at events in An Tir through 2002, when she took a necessary break from the SCA to pursue her college education, attending only a handful of events between 2003 - 2020. In January 2021, Petra returned to the SCA after having completed her modern higher education by earning a Master's degree, establishing her career, and taking time to travel. She looks forward to connecting with friends old and new, and exploring her Spanish persona.

Works & Achievements

  • 1993 - 2002 I did various things such as waterbearing at events, and assisting a few event autocrats by organizing games & contests within their events (some that I recall were running a game of Clench-a-Wench at June Faire each year, and the annual Torchlight Tourney and the Middle Eastern Dance Contest at Autumn War were originally started by me). And I have made more garb and camp food for SCA friends than I can even recall.
  • I won a Samhain costume contest in Blatha An Oir in 1994, portraying the ghost of Ophelia.
  • I won a cookie baking contest at Bar Gemels in 1997 and was asked to provide the same cookies for a Laurel meeting by the Queen at that time, which I was honored to do.
  • In 2000, the Kingdom Seneschal Mikhail unofficially nicknamed me "Queen of Hearts" and wrote a poem in my honor. He wanted me to know that I was very appreciated by my SCA friends and it was very touching so I am including it here.
  • In 2001 I was a guest A & S judge while visiting an event in Artemisia.
  • Upon returning in 2021, I assisted with the Kingdom awards backlog and found contact information for 80 awardees who had been previously un-reachable so that they could receive their awards.
  • Awarded Arts & Sciences Champion of Blatha an Oir at 2022 Embers & Ambrosia event. At the same event, I taught a class on the project I had presented for consideration as Champion. I discussed the different breeds of wool and other fibers used in the Middle Ages and I had also sourced samples of many of those wools, some of which were endangered species and not easy to find. I spent several months on that project, researching and collecting samples. (I'm happy to teach that class again, upon request.)
  • At June Faire in 2022, I brought my A & S project and showed it as part of the demo at a booth in the artisan's hall. I had a great deal of interest and enjoyed sharing it with all who came to see.
  • Sponsored and ran the 1st Garb Contest at 2022 Autumn War, and I made hand embroidered silk bags and embroidered silk belt favors for the winners, judges, and emcee.
  • Awarded Blatha an Oir's Companionship of the Golden Blossom at 2022 Autumn War for service in the Arts & Sciences
