Lissette De La Rose is an early 16th century Woman born in Navarre who is the youngest daughter of a Textile Merchant and a french noblewoman of a minor house. Her mother died in childbirth and Lissette was raised by a series of governesses and household staff members while her father traveled. She learned the basic appropriate to any young lady of her time but she was wild and often ducked her responsibilities to ride in the woods or tend to her roses. She spent some time in the court of Marguerite de Navarre and was heavily influenced by her teachings on charity .Pierre Brantôme said of Marguerite: "She was a great princess. But in addition to all that, she was very kind, gentle, gracious, charitable, a great dispenser of alms and friendly to all." and Lissette strives to reach these same virtues.

Her mother died in childbirth and Lissette was raised by a series of governesses and household staff members while her father traveled. She learned the basic appropriate to any young lady of her time but she was wild and often ducked her responsibilities to ride in the woods or tend to her roses. Her father frequently contracted with the Iron Ring to protect his shipments heading to and from Italy. When she showed little to no prospects of marriage at home he struck a deal with the Iron Ring for her services. She was betrothed to Nicolai and they wed within a year. The life of a mercenary wife suits her taste for adventure and she often uses her fathers connections to secure supplies for the company.

Volunteering at events: Waterbearing is my favorite volunteer oportunity however, I also enjoy working gate, assisting with lists, and voice heraldry (I have recently discovered a passion for court heraldry).  Both at and away from events I enjoy taking photos for my own interests as well as for the shire newsletter. At some point I would like to learn more about marshalling if I can find time.

Arts & Sciences: I like sewing and dancing best however, I am intereted in trying nearly any of the arts and sciences at least once. I would like to learn more about later period textiles and costuming as well as period music and dance. In addition to sewing and dancing I also like making cording using the japanese Kumihimo technique, charter painting (though I am not good at it yet), frame weaving, and period cooking. I have tried my hand at card weaving, spinning, felting, woodburning, bookbinding, calligraphy, and pottery among other things though I am not currently actively persuing these interests. Overall I place myself firmly in the Jack of all trades/master of none category because of my passion for learning new things. Unfortunately this leads to a broader knowlege base rather than a specific focus for me.
