Memories

Greetings

We did the Relay for Life yesterday to fight cancer. It was fairly well attended, and we had lots of folks out to see us.

One of the things that we were demonstrating was shooting real arrows…at real people.

We had the fighters in full armour and people were paying 5 dollars for three war arrows to try and shoot at them. The delight when someone actually got a hit! Especially a cup shot lol.

But my favorite memory of yesterday is going to be watching the three fighter targets do the duck target walk..you know..you went to fairs and shot at ducks as they moved back and forth? Roflmao I sure wish I had a movie camera for that.

I had a blast..thanks so much to the autocrats for putting it on.

I was very glad that (A) My crazy idea of having people shoot arrows at me actually worked, Raised about $100.00 on the day by this madness alone!} (B) That I was not the fighter who got hit in the cup! and (C) That none of the really great SCA Archers were there to take the shots! :-) It was bad enough when some decent SCA Archers let fly, and as for HL Caitrin ni Cingah and her *@#%*&&& little crossbow, grrr mumble snort mutter,... REVENGE shall be mine! I don't know when where or how but it will be mine! (Nice shooting btw!) The weather was great the company superb and a lot of Kids, SCA and Mundane, were having a blast fielding the balls thrown by Jason's Trebuchet, that was great highlight on the day, the peals of kids laughter!

I add my congrats and thanks to the Autocrats for thier idea and I look forward to it happening again.

I have to admit, it was one event that I will never forget. What a wonderful day it was. Colin you were inspirational with your archery idea. My daughter is still talking about it. My lord Uilliam had a young mundane girl not only wanting to learn to play 9 Man Morris but came back looking for him twice for a rematch. When her Mom came looking for her later that evening Uilliam let her take one of his game boards and set of game pieces with her so she could continue to play and teach others. She was beaming from ear to ear, got me and her mom all misty eyed. Yes, I will never forget the wonderful feeling it was being apart of the Relay.

My thanks to the Autocrats as well and you can count on me being there next year for sure!
