Teaching :( one-on-one and groups ) leather work and projects, armouring, garb, wood projects, heavy and rapier fighting, weaving, sewing, viking life
Volunteering at many, many demos (must find details - Hartwood Newcomers 2015, 2016; ), both active (rapier, heavy) and creative (woodworking (such as Royal BC Museum Viking Demo), textiles).
Serving as one of the servers at the feast at Daffodil 2008 .
On retinue for UlfR Blodfotur Fallgrson during 2 different reigns when he was Prince of Tir Righ.

Current modes of service:
At this time I seem to be only able to make prizes for events, volunteer while I am there and try to arrange some time to teach a few classes on wood working, box making mostly.
In 2018, Halima adds: Teaching the making of bowstrings; created a primer to teach others how to read runes; teaching spoon-carving as an intro to woodworking skills; has made well over a dozen haversacks for largesse, weaving straps, and engaging others in the weaving of straps and the making of decorative edging cord; has been the near-constant instigator of A&S nights at Games & Grounds; has learned how to paint with gouache and painted charters for Tir Righ; wherever site clean-up is needed, when Kjartan is there, it's suddenly fun and exciting and quickly done, with all hands setting to.

-have fun
Protégé specific :
-I am not sure what my specific protégé goals are; I think more volunteering and helping others. I do know that the Island and more specifically the northern part of this Island is very under represented in the peer department. There are a lot of good people up here that I think need to be recognized for their effort and contribution. I need to make an effort in some way to help them to be recognized and move forward so that they, in turn, can grow and blossom.
A&S Type Stuff :
- armour, sword hilt for HL Dori , shields, puncture proof tunic for new rapier fighters, garb for newbies, wooden boxes for people leaving our shire (Zoe, Calabrad, Elizabeth, Marina, Reann, Desamona,...? ), things for prizes, inkle looms for others to teach ithra classes, take-down bed for HL Desamona, warp-weight loom for Mistress Gudrun, wooden boxes for shire prizes, fabricated hurricane tent pegs for HL Halima,
- knives, tablets for tablet weaving, wooden animals, stools, bows, shuttles, lucets, box looms, Flemish bowstring jigs

Adding this section because of need...
Kjartan is, by nature, a helpful and creative person. This past weekend of the Investiture of Tir Righ's new Prince and Princesss, in the Barony of Lions Gate, I witnessed HL Kjartan step forward to greet strangers who walked in the door; not of this branch, yet he became, for the moment, an emissary of the SCA offering a welcome and explanation of the day's activities. This happened not just once, but many times over the course of the day. In addition, I also witnessed Kjartan give medical aid to one in distress; being a trained paramedic and Canadian, he quickly and without fanfare determined what was needed, and provided it.
We note that Kjartan's home is a ferry ride to the "big island", so every trip has a cost; yet he takes that trip in order to participate at least weekly, and more. Attending a mainland event entrails a second, more costly, ferry trip.
