Founded by Karl Redstone
Gentle Cousins, here are words from our Lord and Lady of the Household
Redstone was founded in AS 24 in the shire of Midhaven. Founding members were Karl Redstone, Moriah MacLochlann Redstone, Durinmar, Ronan of Redstone, and Chester the Jester. That was The Lord, The Lady, the Fighter, The Bard, and The Jester.
A few members had a couple of years in the SCA and Karl started the household as a group to help new people into the SCA.
Our first big event was a May Crown in Oregon. We all drove down together with a separate van for gear and 2 cars for people.
Over the years the house has helped many people get started in the SCA and many a SCA'er into armor and onto the field.
Since then, we have grown and then faded as members traveled to far away lands, but always a core has remained. Karl and Moriah stepped down and others took turns leading, but after a while, they returned as heads of house, even though both were now married to other people. Because of this there were more people available as support for the leaders, the house once more began to grow.
With Karl's passing at Banner war 2 years ago (Oct.2006 -EH), a real renaissance came over the house. A reminder of our own mortality made it more important than ever to do what you want now. Don't put off things, you don't know if there will be another time.
We are reminded of the unfinished dreams of Karl and the reasons why the Redstones were formed. We hope to bring back the good of the old days.
Two new members entered the house this year, and two more were sponsored. (2008 –EH) Also several children of Redstone have entered their majority and are now adult members.
House Redstone is filled with great, driven, and highly skilled people.
