Filchley Q. Cutpurse was a roguish character who played in and around the Adiantum area.
Tom Jeffries was a patrolman with the Portland Police Bureau. On July 27, 1997 (AS XXXII), he was shot and killed while pursuing a man who had just shot a 7-year-old boy. He was 35.
