== Marcel's SCA Career ==

Marcel has been playing off and on in the SCA since the early 2000's with his first event being a War Crown that he attended with the College of St Bunstable. For his early years he wandered aimlessly from camp to camp, stopping here and there with people he found kinship with. Those of House Boar's Head, Krakken, the Fallen Brotherhood of St Bacchus, and now House Awry have given him shelter and food and to whom Marcel will be forever grateful. It was not until 2005 that he found something of a purpose for himself: Thrown Weapons. With some skills he learned from his friends of the mountain men, buckskin-wearing enthusiasts with a penchant for black powder, he quickly raised his scores to rival those of seasoned veterans. In October of 2006 he won the Thrown Weapons Championship at Last Chance and shortly thereafter was awarded a Snap Dragon by their excellencies Cedric Wlfraven and Brighid Ross. The following year saw Marcel at more events across An Tir, notably June Fair/Yule/Autumn War/Honey War and a few others, continuing his thrown weapons-themed romp as an Officer of Dragon's Laire by running the range at June Fair and Last Chance. He also caught the eye of a prominent figure in the community and was asked to become an Arcarius to Archos Arion the Wanderer O.L., an honor that Marcel is thankful for not only due to the amount of knowledge he has gained in service but for Arion's patience and understanding when Marcel starts cracking jokes. Unfortunately, shortly after he passed the torch to the new Thrown Weapons champion he stepped down as officer due to the rigors and perpetual intrusion of "Real Life".

During the next few years Marcel saw a meager few events and only saw his long-lost friends in fleeting glances and all-too-short chance meetings. In an effort to change this he has breathed new life into his SCA journey by joining with the somewhat ever-present and always eager to serve House Awry. Now that the wayward son has returned to the SCA that he had missed so dearly Marcel has stepped back in to his niche as a thrown weapons enthusiast while branching out into archery (both target and combat), arts and sciences, some heraldry (a calling he feels he 'cant' ignore), siege weapon engineer and service to the barony and kingdom with House Awry. He then learned more than all his past years combined as he has made his own bow string as instructed by Thorfinn Kolsson, crafted a suit of leather armor alongside his Archos, made throwing maces and ballista bolts for use in war, sewn more garb than he wishes to comment on (yet less than he would like), crafted and tooled a leather thrown weapons harness to be gifted to the Barony of Glymm Mere for their Thrown Weapons Champion to wear, and researched his persona in an ongoing quest to include himself in as many aspects of the Society as possible.

== Persona Background Development ==

Marcel Boutet was born in Paris, France on April 10th, 1570 to Marianne and Michele Boutet. His father was a vintner from Bordeaux in the Guyenne province of France and had modest holdings in Paris from which to conduct trade while visiting. 4 months after he was born the Peace of Sainte Germain-en-Laye heralded the end of the Third French War of Religion and allowed his parents to raise him among their fellow Huguenots without as much fear of persecution.
The peace was shattered on August 24th 1572 by the St Bartholomew's Day Massacre when thousands of Huguenots were slaughtered over the course of only a few days. Luckily his family decided to abandon their Parisian holdings and flee the city to their estate in Bordeaux but unfortunately were forced to leave his elder sister Suzanne with family friends who made a concession to raise her as Catholic and thus save her from future hardships. Marcel was then raised at his family's estate in Bordeaux with all the trappings a young lord could want: he was taught to read and write by a private Calvinist tutor employed by his father; learned to hunt with bow, spear, and wheel-lock rifle; studied mathematics and history in his spare time; and generally spent his formative years away from the horrors of the ongoing Seventh War.
When Henri III of France was assassinated and named the Huguenot Henry of Navarre successor (Now Henry IV of France), Marcel's father decided to back his new king by joining his march to Paris and thus reunite with his estranged daughter. Sadly though Michele was mortally wounded during Henry IV's victory at the Battle of Arques in September of 1589. Marcel decided to honor the memory of his father and left his future as a vintner and merchant to fight alongside Henry IV's forces at the Battle of Ivry on March 14th 1590 where he was ordered to assist the artillery units bombarding the forces of the Duc de Mayenne.
When the Spanish forces broke Henry IV's siege of Paris, Marcel left to join with the Duke of Montpensier and his plans to stop Philippe Emmanuel, Duke of Mercœur from claiming Brittany as an independent state under his leadership. Unfortunately the battle at Craon in 1592 did not go as planned when the Spanish relief force appeared and broke the siege of the city. Marcel managed to survive and fled into the countryside with a small band of French and English soldiers with which he had become friends with during the campaign.
After the failed siege the Spanish and Catholic forces captured all of the attacker's artillery, munitions and other equipment so Marcel's small band decided to partake in the English tradition of becoming highwaymen and bandits to harass their enemies. It was during this time that his English friends gave him the nickname Cyric Longfellow to help hide his true name from those who might persecute his remaining family because of the crimes he will no doubt commit against the Catholics and Spanish in the region.
Lately Marcel/Cyric has been sighted along the back roads and trade ways of Brittany alongside a group of brigands and cut-throats where he continues to harass the Spanish and Catholic forces, raiding supply chains and robbing traveling Catholic nobility.
