Viscounts and Viscountesses are gentles who have ruled once over a kingdom.

They are correctly addressed as "Your Excellency" and referred to in the third person as "Count/ess [personal name]." They may wear a crenellated coronet to indicate their rank. It is not uncommon in An Tir for many counts and countesses to use other language variants of Count or Countess; Earl and Jarl are probably the two most popular alternates.

As former royalty, they have a Patent of Arms and are considered Royal Peers.
