So it’s a tale you are wanting, well then I will give you my story. I was the third son of a third son, with not many prospects for my future. As a child I was runtly not as big as the other bubens. I was picked on constantly and soon began to strike out in anger. But being on the small side often took more than I gave out. As I got older I got bigger and it wasn’t too long before I was giving out more than I was getting. My father had hoped to apprentice me to a baker, which was the best I could hope for in life being the third son to a third son. The baker’s life wasn’t really for me the hours being too early and long. The Master Baker was evil and had an intense dislike for me. So against my parent’s wishes I traveled to Salzburg and joined the army. The Landsknecht became my family moving all about Europe going where our Emperor asked us. I’ve fought for God, gold, food and beer and I would have to say the most rewarding has been the beer.

In my stay in the army I have often found myself in desperate situations. It was one of those situations that prompted me to accept an invitation to join the Dragonsblood a strong ship with a stout crew. Not being familiar with a ships (where I came from the largest body of water was the river) I wasn’t sure how I would fit in, I had experience from the army and before that making bread. During my first trip I found my place when we ran out of good drink. So working with my experience as an apprentice baker and a connoisseur of fine beverages I started brewing beer. Yeast, water barley and hops, stir it up let it sit for day or two and you get beer. I had found my place, yes once in a while I have to brandish the old zwiehander but I always know that at the end of the day there will be mug of stout ale waiting for me.
